Reidy is apparently alive and was spotted in the Westpac Centre in a wheelchair after his calf transplant. Expected to be back in 2018 but will be stationed in the goal square on oxygen.

Bucks explained the delay with Reid, Sinclair and Freeman tonight on AFL 360.

Simply put it's that their particular injury (be it calf or hammy) were more severe and are now classified as tendon injuries.

He said Beams had the same thing last year but we did mishandle it and that's why he re-did the same injury a few times (what an indictment on Buttifant that is).

Bucks also said it's something is relatively new in football circles now and that the club, it's fitness staff and the coaches are only now learning how to deal with these tendon injuries.

What about the medical staff, the allied health staff (physiotherapists etc) & the players own over-exertion, keen to get back on the field?

Does a sports scientist have a lead role here?

I wonder how much responsibility lies with Buttifant?

That said we needed a change of sports scientist.

+1 Not sure it was his fault on these issues, but I agree a change ran consistent with the broader freshening up approach.

Well, I don't reckon we got any idea. But so far, Reid's doing no better than Beams, let's hope that changes soon.

Don't see how it reflects on Butters, Bucks himself said its a new thing and the club is still learning how to manage it. Add to that Beams admission he actually didn't adhere to his rehab training regime which led to his re-injury last season.

As I said in the injury update thread. On 927 this morning Whitey reported Reid re-injured the calf and is another month away.

I tend not to believe much when the club discusses injuries. They don't tell the truth. Whether that is to camouflage it for the opposition or spin it for us supporters, I get tired of the mis-information. I tend to rely on the media rather than the club when it comes to injury updates.

So Collingwood have now started a new trend where hammys & calfs are now 10 week injuries and not the standard 3-4 weeks? Wonder if Carlton will copy us?

Must be groundhog day...!

Lucky for the Pies we have the luxury of playing Brown in the magoos and getting games into White, Grundy and Witts up forward while Reid recovers.
