It is crap and as MM pointed out there is a seperate rule for Brissy. Am I suprised no, it's the typical double standard of the AFL.

Obviously the AFL have changed the rules AGAIN, as Tony Shaw was runner in 1995 when Mark McKeown went overseas. Tony Shaw was development coach in 1995 so why the change ??
All I remember Shawry doing was the same as any other runner although Sheedy may disagree about Anzac Day 1995 in the famous draw.
Yet another concession for the nothern states !

hmmmmm... does a reserve's coach have a contract where he can attract his own sponser, like MM does? this could have more to do with the AFL's plans to use runners as billboards than any sort of "rule"
they are under presure the AFL, if they don't watch out they might have to pay for their own lunch!!
