Took itself a bit to seriously for a B grade action flick for mine, needed the trace of humour that was the staple of 80's action flicks. White House Down was a great example of a modern action flick that followed the rules.

Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers (2022)

Wow. Gotta say I absolutely loved the TV series when I was a kid. And when I saw this on Disney+, well, we decided to give it a shot.

I never like Zipper tho. He was to that series what Webby was to Duck Tales.

Anyway, there were a few things I didnt like, but overall I thought it was pretty good. Lots of references to all kinds of animated shows over the years.

My Mrs really liked it, because she loved the old show too and loved seeing other characters making cameos from other shows/movies.

The only thing she didnt get was "Ugly Sonic", I had to explain that one.

I'm gonna have to get Disney+.

Last movies I watched were

the new Thor movie. I still don't understand what happened at the end and if Jane Foster is still alive

Top Gun Maverick, liked it better second time around but the original is still better.

Dr Strange multiverse thingo. Bit of a mindfuck, more special effects than plot, but killed 2 hours of the flight to Cairns

Operation Mincemeat, British WWII drama (not an axe murderer horror flick).
Starring Colin Firth, Jason Isaacs, Johnny Flynn - quite a few familiar British actors.

Really good, well acted, dramatic with a bit of humour thrown in. Premise sounds implausible until you realise film is based on true events.

Luckiest girl alive. Mila Kunis is amazing. Part of the story based on a true story, the reason the writer brought in other challengers was because she felt what happened to her was not horrifying enough....

In the age if metoo, really dodgey politicians, this us hard hitting and the message soi portent. Kudus to the cast writers, from start to finish it’s uncomfortable and it should be.

Brilliant! David would hate it!

Bloody magnificent, if I had the energy I’d be up cheering!

Freedom Writers (2007)

Came across this looking through Netflix. The trailer sucked me in. It did remind me of a film from the mid 90's "Dangerous Minds". Surprised I hadn't heard of it before, but I thought it was ok.

Gonna watch Dangerous Minds tonight. Havent seen that in years.

Took Ingmar to see The Emperor's New Groove at the Sun Theatre for his birthday yesterday. I'd never seen it before, but it's very funny. Might be one of the best films Disney has made, I reckon!

That's a huge call, David! Have you seen Fox and the Hound, Robin Hood, The Jungle Book, or The Aristocats?

Robin Hood and The Jungle Book (the former recently and the latter a long time ago), yes, but not the other two! I picked up a DVD of The Aristocats at an op shop a while back, so will have to check that out sometime.

I was never a huge fan of Disney as a kid (always hated the songs!) or adult, but for me the standout animated films are Bambi, The Sword in the Stone and Aladdin. And in terms of live-action features, I'm a big fan of Return to Oz! But can take or leave a lot of the rest.

The Aristocats is great.
Remember seeing it at the cinema when it was first released.
Another favorite was Bedknobs & Broomsticks. Very dated now but it was fun.

Muriel's Wedding (1994)

I saw this as a child and gee whizz all the adult jokes and talk about, well, oral sex, would have gone over my head.

Anyway we put it on because we thought it was going to be an Aussie comedy and you often hear about this movie. It was funny in parts, but I felt gutted for the mother and what happened to her in this film. It's also really a sad movie when you look at Muriel and the way she is treated by everyone.

I really liked the ending, but felt sad for the mother and for the friend who was no longer able to walk.
