So not me, and I fell asleep for awhile, but I really liked it! The fantastic idea, yes please!
And FUBAR the new Arnie 8 part series! Not bad |
Mrs Harris Goes To Paris is a nice enjoyable movie.
Good to watch on a lazy afternoon, not too much strain on the brain.

I saw that DVD at the market this morning, didn't bother to get it. I'll watch them for something to watch, light entertainment, but I wouldn't go out of my way to do so. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Caught the final instalment of Indiana Jones. The first not directed by Spielberg.
It used all of the format first 3 films action, chases, Nazis, critters, snakes (well eels), fights and fantasy.
Harrison Ford continues to deliver big screen presence and the ensemble cast worked in well.
I was an unabashed fan of the originals and didn't leave disappointed.
What it lacked in freshness still made for enjoyable viewing.
Many fans of the originals might have wanted more, but it was a fitting epitaph to a great series.

The Red Sea Diving Resort.
Make sure you stay for the credits for the real pictures.
It’s on Netflix. Not my usual taste, but oh so hard to watch. As was my visit to emergency the other night, this is a huge mirror for humanity - in the opposite direction.
Amazing and terrifying at the same time.
Should be compulsory viewing. _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

Watched the new Flash movie. Quite enjoyed it, it's all about the flashpoint scenario from the comics where Flash goes back in time to stop his mum being murdered and breaks the universe.
Good, but the CW did it better in the TV series.
WTF is with this Barbie movie? People are flocking to it and apparently giving it great reviews. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

A few recent (yes, all American!) films I’ve seen:
• Joy Ride: Intermittently amusing MA-rated female buddy road movie (kind of like an all-female version of The Hangover). Has a decent premise (Chinese-American women struggling to deal with the culture shock of visiting China), but most of the characters are on the two-dimensional side and it follows all the predictable plot beats. Didn’t do much for me in the end.

• Barbie: A delightfully weird project that is both flawed and ambitious, the latter of which takes the film a long way. Quite funny if a bit too self-aware at times, and wears its feminist politics on its sleeve. Can’t ignore the elephant in the room that the film is essentially a feature-length ad for Mattel toys, for all its satirical and seemingly self-critical elements. Kind of interested in seeing it again, not because I loved it but because I think there’s a lot of interesting stuff going on here. Not really for kids, for whatever that’s worth.

• No Hard Feelings: A real breath of fresh air! Not much to it, but has a great central conceit about a working-class 30-year-old woman (Jennifer Lawrence) who takes on a gig essentially to go on dates and have sex with a sad rich-kid 19-year-old boy who steadfastly resists her advances before falling in love with her. What emerges is actually a pretty moving story about sexuality and class in the guise of a bawdy romantic comedy. Not perfect by any means, but a lot of fun.

• Oppenheimer: Worst film I’ve seen this year by a long way – a bloated, thuddingly self-important three-hour-long film about the scientist who developed the atomic bombs that were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and subsequently "suffered" (I’m using that term ironically, given the genuine, generations-spanning human devastation he helped bring about) a mild version of a McCarthyist inquest due to his left-wing sympathies in earlier life. Unfortunately, while framed around the Big Theme of the bomb and the end of humanity, the film seems far more interested in its protagonist’s martyrdom during the Cold War, which ultimately doesn’t amount to all that much. Christopher Nolan is a talented enough director, and there are some impressive sequences in this, but as a whole I found it absolutely unbearable.

• Asteroid City: Wed Anderson’s films may not be for everyone, but I generally find his work delightful, and this is no exception. Set in the middle of the Nevada desert during the 1950s and framed around a Roswell-type event, the film is very silly and offbeat, and consistently hilarious. Gorgeous to look at, too.
