Les Miserables (2019) Suspenseful French film about escalating tensions between the police and teenagers in a housing estate. It was very good.

Hadn't seen either film before;
Passenger 57 (1992)
Didnt want anything too long and came across this... An 84 minute Wesley Snipes action thriller from the early 90s.
Wesley Snipes is John Cutter, a former cop turned airline security expert that is haunted by the death of his wife. Bruce Payne is Charles Rane, a sadistic international terrorist mastermind, who hijacks a commercial airline to escape custody.
Not the best film I've ever seen, but watchable. Guns and stuff on airlines... Definitely pre September 11. Liz Hurley was in it too, which was surprising.
Bean (1997)
Rowan Atkinson is Mr. Bean. I've never watched this film before and my initial thoughts were, they've Americanised Mr Bean. Didnt think that was going to be a good thing. Because 99% of the time Americans dont get British or any other nations humour.
But it wasnt too bad. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

42 (2013)
Starring Harrison Ford and Chadwick Boseman as Jackie Robinson, the first black athlete to play in Major League Baseball.
There's something about baseball movies. Dunno what it is, but they're always good. This one is a biographical sports film, and not the usual drama/comedy that most baseball films have. I thought it was very good, but it sort of rushed through the years of his career.
Geez I'm glad I'm not a Phillies fan.... _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

thats is a good movie, i agree about baseball movies, some good lines too:
"theres no crying in baseball!"
"if you build it they will come!!"
In the same vein but not baseball, try Remember the Titans, ive watched it a couple of times, I promise you will cheers, and at the end, you will need a coupla tissues, its based on true events, (with a good chunk of fiction of course) and it is so well acted.
"People say that it can't work, black and white. Here, we make it work every day. We still have our disagreements, of course, but before we reach for hate, always, always, we remember the Titans." _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

Last night when deciding what to put on, we thought it was getting a bit late to start a film and somehow ended up talking about and then watching....

I made a guest appearance on the US podcast Filmsuck yesterday talking about the work of French director Agnès Varda, which I know will interest precisely two people on here if I'm lucky. I'm pretty excited about it, anyway!

A few I've watched in the last month or so:
Gone in 60 Seconds (2000)
Starring Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie... Look, it's ok... actually it's pretty dumb. Saw in in cinema at the time. It's one of those films that is ok, but could have been so much better.
I, Tonya (2017)
Starring Margot Robbie as Tonya Harding. It follows the life of the figure skater and her connection to the 1994 attack on her rival Nancy Kerrigan. Finally got around to watching this. Was better than I thought it was going to be. But really, what a bunch of nutcases.
J. Edgar (2011)
Starring Leonardo DiCaprio as J. Edgar Hoover. Directed by Clint Eastwood. Rather slow paced, but still interesting. Would love to get my hands on those files he had on everyone, including Jack and Bobby Kennedy.
The Mummy (1999)
Starring Brendan Fraser. This is another film I'd never seen before. People from work said I have to watch it, so I did. It was actually pretty good and so much better than I was expecting.
The Mummy Returns (2001)
So I watched the sequel too. Which wasn't as good but still ok. That flying machine thing was stupid tho. I see there's a part 3 and a bunch of Scorpion King films, but I might hold off on those for now....
All The Way (2016)
A political drama based on events during the presidency of Lyndon B. Johnson. For me, this was disappointing. It does have a good approval rating on the net however. It is only based from the days after the JFK assassination to when he won the election in 64. It is mainly based upon the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and loosely his campaign against Goldwater in '64. Still worth watching, but I was hoping to see more about Lyndon himself. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

I’ll ove the old Nic cage movies, my favourite is Conair! I’ve watched it at least a dozen times! Gone in 60 sec has the added attraction of Angelina plus the cars! I saw the Shelby from the movie in Vegas, pretty special. If you haven’t see the Rock I suggest you watch that next, Sean Connery is magnificent.
I like all the mummy movies, good for brainless entertainment!
Tonya is bloody bananas, her attitude still is crazy!
I haven’t seen a decent action flick in a while, bit disappointing.
Have you seen the triple xxx movies? Oh man I love those!
And all the fast and furious, except Tokyo drift, which quite frankly, should not be included in the series! _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |
