He needs to retire, he wasted a whole year of his life

He did not waste a year of his life. He played in three finals, taking him to double figures in September.

In relation to the Carlton rumours: Didn't Nathan state on Footy Classified post round 15 when in the hotseat alongside MM that he would take a year or two out and do some media before jumping into the other hotseat (the coaches box)?

Greg Swan how dare you. I don't want to play with you when you act like that - Bugs Bunny.

There is no way bucks is going to put himself through another season like that. Don't get me wrong I want him to go on for another year, but if he did have a hamstring problem in that match against Geelong he will know better than to go on. How much disappointment can one person take in a season.

If it is true, all I can say is good luck Bucks, and thank you for letting me see you play.

That tackle when he monstered Camporeale in the middle of the ground early in the third quarter after a half time brawl in about 03...or the Friday night game, also against the scum, his 200th, when we flogged them so bad I nearly felt sorry for them, oh no I didnt-I laughed my ar$e off all night, seeing those things live was a privilege.

And then the early years, when his 35 possessions against 2 or 3 opponents were sometimes good enough to get an ordinary side over the line.

His like will be a long time coming again. He does deserve a send off like his contemporary champions who have finished this year. I hope the club does something.

Sad, sad day for all Collingwood supporters & people in general.

The greatest leader the club has ever had, champion player, champion bloke. Bucks you are a champion, it was a privlige to watch you play for the club...

I had the opportunity to play a game of pool against the great man & let me tell you, he is as good at pool as he is football...

NATHAN Buckley's impending retirement will create a leadership quandary for Collingwood.

Quote:
There was no confirmation from Collingwood last night, but it's the end for the man who played 280 games with the Brisbane Bears (1993) and the Pies.

Eddie McGuire, Collingwood president and Buckley's greatest fan, said last night: "We're making all announcements tomorrow night."

One high-ranking official said: "It will be a very emotional Copeland Trophy."

Buckley is expected to work at the club next year in a part-time capacity after an extended break.

He hinted at a Grand Final eve luncheon last Friday he was coming to terms with retirement.

A sad day for us all to lose Bucks as our Captain......................may the time come quickly that he is back in the fold and takes over the coaching role from MM when he retires.

Am I glad that I was at the last matches that he played in against, the Swans, Eagles and Geelong...........what a privlige!!

Vale Bucks..................you were a true leader both on and off the field.......may those that follow pay heed to your guts, determination, intelligence, pride and never give up attitude.

We will miss you.

Sad day for the Collingwood Football Club - it was an honour and priviledge to watch him play. What a champion and one of the best I have EVER seen.

Will be greatly missed Sad

Am hoping that he will remain at the club in some capacity (inconcievable to think of him at any other club)

BTW - a press conference is to be held at 1pm today so we shall see what 'oh great one' has to say.
