If Bux is to retire is of no surprise - rest those weary little hammies, Buckley. A priveledge to have watched on so many occasions. A true champion. At least my dog, lives on... she's 10 now.

Its so sad. I hope this is false, but its probably not. He was still better than most players even though he wasnt at 100%. He sets himself high standards. Coming back from a year of no footy, so walk straight into a hotly contested finals series with no easy games in front of 100 thousand people is an impossible task...and Bucks played some great footy.

i thought he was in our best against Sydney. Got stacks of it against the Eagles.

We had no easy games on the run home. Not like Port and Geelong who atleast got Kangaroos. That was a solid a month of footy as you could play, and with no match practice.

Its a testament to the ability of the man to come back the way he did. Although this is not the sendoff i had in mind, atleast we will have the lasting memory of courage that bucks displayed to come out of nowhere to play a preliminary final against the eventual premiers.

this is really depressing..............he deserves it so much.

getting one as a coach is just not the same.

DONT WORRY PEOPLE!!

Buckley will get a flag!

I look foward to reading the same headline that was on the front page of the herald sun a few days ago in 18 years time

"DO IT FOR DAD"

Bring on Jet!

Are you for real? If Bucks was a coach, it would be the proudest day of his life watching his boys win a premiership.

Try telling that to all the premiership coaches that literally put in more hours than the players, if its not the same.

I recall Mathews being interviewed and him saying that it's fantastic to coach a team to a flag, but it's not the same as playing in one.

Well Bucks will not exactly be able to achieve the double so its easy for Matthews to say that after he has won so many of them.

So why should we diminish what Bucks may be able to achieve as a coach one day?

If he gets one as a coach and is able to walk down to the ground with 5 minutes left he will have enormous pride and a smile beaming from his face.

I agree with you 100% spoljar. I guess I'm just frustrated that the champ never got to captain us to a flag. Still, he's in good company. Neither did Tuddy, our greatest captain ever, in my opinion.

Well we all thought that this may happen but SHIT what a bummer to realize it is happening.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am devastated that we will lose such a great prescence on and off the field as a player.

Lets hope that he does his studies quickly ( as Ed has suggested) and is back in coaching mode really soon.
