Have been hearing some interesting things about this kids chances of moving home and playing for the pies. He was initially told when first drafted by Collingwood that he would be chased heavily after his two years served at the Crows.

A very realiable source has now told me that we will be attempting to shift him our way within trade week.

Keep your eyes on this one folks. A very intruiging prospect.

Is he any good though? We don't need another skinny 200cm dud, we have plenty of those.

With Clarke retiring and Biglands injured do you think Adelaide will let him go?

Was a top 10 draft pick in 2004 for the crows. Was said to have been a standout for for Vic in TAC comp.

No doubt he has more ruck prudential than Fanning and Richards and Cameron cloke put 2gether

Well his served his two year contact that all rookies are offered, am i wrong?

This makes me out of contract and open to offers.

Fair enough. Is he actually any good? Has he played a senior game?

Didnt crack into the seniors, was emergency a couple of games.

Have heard some good things bout him. Was a great player for Geelong Falcons.

Like with all ruckman, it takes atleast 4 to 5 years before u get a true scope of how good they will be.

He had a few good games in the SANFL, I think he kicked 6 goals in one game, but can't find any stats for him re hit outs.

Yes, he is not a rookie if he was a top 10 draft pick, different system. Adelaide has to agree to trade him to us, otherwise he goes in the Preseason draft and he wont be around at pick 10 when we get a chance. In other words, unless we come to terms with Adelaide we can''t get him.

Thanks, fair enuf. You would think the Crows would take something for him if they know there bound to loss him for nothing in pre season draft.

Can you confirm if Meeson was a top 10 draft pick or not? I was under the impression he was 7th or 8th, could be wrong though.

John Meesen
Details:
Club: Modewarre/Geelong
DOB: 20 June 1986 Hgt: 200cm Wgt: 88kg
Position: Ruck
Natural Foot: Right

Honours:
Victoria Country 2004
Ruck in TAC Cup Team of the Year 2004
National Draft Camp 2004

TAC Stats:
2003: 19 games, 6 goals, 10.9 PPG
2004: 16 games, 9 goals, 17.1 PPG

Strengths: Meesen is another promising ruckman in the draft pool, and has been one of the best performed at TAC Cup level this season. Once again, his tapwork is good, and John’s second efforts around the ground are excellent, he never stops trying and working hard.

He usually does OK around the ground, takes some very strong grabs, and is improving in this area.

Weaknesses: His kicking can be suspect, especially when he tries to kick off a step. He seems to struggle a little bit when played up forward. Not particularly quick.

Footydraft.com comment: Meesen is a proven performer and should add to the ruck stocks of any club looking to the future.

Meesen was pick 8 in the 2004 draft. Interestingly, Jordan Russell who went to Carlton at pick 7 is also rumoured to be moving on.

Jordan Russell is a dud, Meesen has some claims though.
