Good points Turtle. Its what i say to every non-pies fan who bitches about Eddie calling the footy or something cos hes the maggies president.

Obviously the dual role holds back his enthusiasm...if he wasnt Pres of collingwood, hed be able to call the games just as biased as Robert Walls about Carlton and Brisbane (but hopefully 10x less boring). And if he wasnt pres, hed be able to cater to our interests blatantly, rather than having to justify everything.

With him in charge of 9, youd know that 9 would be back for the rights in 2011, and can pretty much rest assured that with a guy as passionate about the game as Ed in charge, theyd do their level best to promote it better than 7/10 would be prepared to do.

Nup no rule of law. Whats David Smorgon's role with Smorgon Steel? Gutnick and Casey are also guys that spring to mind as Presidents also involved in big business. (dont really know many of the other presidents, so i cant say). But aside from the constraints on Ed's time, and family life, theres no reason why he cant be Pres and CEO.

I mean if he stopped hosting 1,000 shows a year, he may be able to use that time to run Ch9, and still keep time aside for the Pies. (but more than likley we'd lose out, and hed quit Presidency)

And as for the CEO role moving to melbourne, that could happen...whod wanna be in Sydney when you can be in Melbourne? hehe Wink

However if Eddie can't be President of Collingwood I would bet he could continue to be the power behind the throne of whomever replaces him. I would hate to see his influence lost.

He indeed is an ambitious man as we indeed are ambitious fans.

We need each other.

In making that statement, it was my opinion that he would not have time. Nine is in Sydney not Melbourne. The demands on Nine going into 2007 would have far more impact on Eddie than the demand of our football team.

As far as Packer running multiple companies, owning them and running them are two different things.

The club is set up financially and with people like Swan in charge it's not like he is jumping off the Titanic after it hit an iceberg.

What ever Eddie decides it's his decision.
