Henin ends year No.1

BELGIUM's has Justine Henin-Hardenne jumped past compatriot Kim Clijsters in the final WTA rankings despite Clijsters winning the season-ending Tour Championship in Los Angeles.

France's Amelie Mauresmo, who lost to Clijsters in the final, also made a leap on the final list, improving from sixth to fourth by passing Lindsay Davenport and Jennifer Capriati.

Henin-Hardenne lost to Mauresmo in the semi-finals but had already clinched the top spot, edging Clijsters by 75 points.

Injured former world No.1 Serena Williams, idle since winning Wimbledon, was third on the list while her older sister Venus, also injured since the Wimbledon final, slid four spots to 11th on the final list, being edged by Japan's Ai Sugiyama for the last spot in the top 10

Quite scary how boring womens tennis can be. Basically there are the Williams sisters (when fit), the two belgians then daylight. One or two upsets here and there but not many. At least with the men there is some sort of chance the underdog can win.

Hewitt, Agassi, Federer, Ferrero, Roddick - the list goes on (and I will list them if requested.) Any one of these guys could win on their day.
