Post subject: ARE FREMANTLE GOVERNED BY THE SALARY CAP?? | |
|
Is it possible for any of the WA Magpies to get a copy of yesterdays WA Newspaper that published the 5 top money earners for Fremantle.
It went something along the lines of
Bell $500,000
Croad $500,000
Farmer $500,000
Waterhouse $400,000
Then you throw in the likes of Headland, Pavlich and Haselby.
Will be very interesting to know how Fremantle are under the salary cap?? These players contracts Farmer and Croad are meant to increase next year as well.
It begs the question is the AFL turning a blind eye to the salary cap with Fremantle??

They have already gone easy on them twice in their history after going over their cap.
Rules for some, rules for others. |

The other thing is it's reported that Croad, Waterhouse and Farmers contracts were loaded, meaning next year Farmer and Croad were in the vacinity of $650K - $700k each for the year. That's big money! _________________ My oxygen is Collingwood. Without it I die.

well, that cameron schwab bloke is officially the worst CEO in the AFL, so no doubt they'll go over the cap sooner or later.
they are truly the most NOTHING club in the AFL. |

JLC, your figures are what was quoted in the paper. the only thing is that Fremantle have only 35 on the list this year - 3 less than what they can have.
The club is starting to negotiate contracts for next year, and they have to reduce their payments by $500,000 to stay under the cap for next year, so I would say there will be some players on less money next year.
Actually, some of them have a cheek taking any money for their performances.
Incidentally, every game played here this year so far, has been played in very warm/hot conditions, and it has stuffed every interstate team by 3/4 time.
I think the interstate teams should be lobbying the AFL to play at night in Perth, so they can avoid the heat of the day. It is more like cricket weather than footy weather at the moment.
