Traded for pick 18, with which we selected Brodie Grundy.

So does that mean that technically Grundy was taken with a rookie pick? Wink

Thanks for this article. The Wellingham Rookie pick and later, trade will rank very highly in future years. Very shrewd work by the Collingwood team at the time including Geoff Walsh. Interesting that Richmond has virtually opted out drafting rookies whilst we have turned it into an art form. Wasn't Blair an elevated rookie in 2010?

2001 Ball P2
2002 -
2003 -
2004 -
2005 Pendlebury P5
2006 Reid P8, Brown P10
2007 -
2008 Sidebottom P11
2009 -
2010 Karnezis P25
2011 Adams P13
2012 Grundy P18, Kennedy P19, Broomhead P20
2013 Scharenberg P6, Freeman P10

That's our current first round draft picks. And quite a depressing journey through the early '00s drafting it was too. Amazing how well our later picks/rookies/trades have done, and equally amazing how bad our recruiting was for a while.
