|
I only saw parts of the first half (most of the first qtr) and the last 3 minutes because of work.
What I loved was Adams giving it to Cotchin. The sniper Cotchin (not quite a sniper but deliberately plays some real cheap shots) copping it from the earnest and physical Adams was great

WPT, I remember Tay dishing out some physical pressure to someone lying on the ground at some point - was that Cotchin???? |

Great win. Very happy for Harvey to get win no. 1. Praying we can do the double and win next week.
DeGoey is a warming up. Brilliant to see him string three good games together.
Also happy to see Reiwoldt kick 700. Always say him as the spud of the cousins, but he has built up a pretty admirable football resume.
Not sure what’s happening with Kelly. He is on the path to being the next Lee Walker or Sean Rusling.

Yep, that was surely disappointing for him to suffer yet another injury. However, I doubt he has the same base level of talent that Sean Rusling had. |

He was retaliating to somefink Cotchin had done.

Ruscoe was drafted as a defender. Played in defence. Some nice precision kicking out of D50.
Brown drafted as a midfielder. Plays out of the guts. Gets plenty of it and dishes off plenty of times.
Bianco was drafted as a winger/midfielder, barely plays F50 tonight. Has an impact, should have kicked a goal drifting forward from the wing in the final quarter.
Who would have thought, play players in their nominated positions, instead of plonking them all inside F50 and expecting them to know how to play the specialist forward line role.
Proves what a stubborn coach Nathan Buckley was.

An idea:,,,. Maybe he felt that stick to Buckley approach was the way to go
Then all of a sudden he has thought it out as Raw Hammer suggests
Playing people in the position they were familiar with rather than where Bucks put them and gave them a roll which he had them stick to
Well that’s one idea anyway

i agree with your comments RH regarding Ruscoe and Brown above regarding today's performance. Bianco has enough talent I reckon to be influential whether he plays F50, wing or mid.
One thing that irritated me about Brown today was his propping and stopping at CHF, then gesturing with his hands, as if to say "Who am I supposed to kick it to?", when he had options coming at him from across the forward line. He just needs to have the confidence to kick the damn thing at a leading forward, rather than hesitate, thereby allowing the opposition defence to man up. |

He’s not doing much differently at all because you can’t undo overnight what has been trained into them for the last several months.
I keep saying it, the reason why we move the ball quicker some days or own the corridor is because the opposition on that day doesn’t have the ability to counteract what we set out to do. That inability to control the opposition can be anything from a quarter through to the entire game.
One of the things that makes you a good team is the ability to limit the opposition doing what they want to do. Today was as much about Richmond as it was Collingwood. Richmond haven’t won for a month, so it’s not like they are hard to move the ball quickly against, particularly with a third of their best 22 out
Buckley’s last two games were wins, Harvey’s first two games were losses. Harvey gets a win and all of a sudden, he does it better than Buckley. I’m wrapped we got a return for our effort but let’s see if everyone thinks the same the next time we play a team who is good enough to hold up our ball movement. I can see it now - “ Gee, why didn’t Harvey decide to move the ball quickly today “ The reason is because the opposition was better than us on the day. |

Very enjoyable win and one of the best matches I've attended in years. To sink Richmond's season into further crisis is the icing on the cake.
I can't stop smiling at the fact that despite a tough season, we've been able to beat our biggest rivals in Carlton and Richmond which will warm Collingwood hearts.
Execution was poor for most of the first half, but the stats showed we were matching it with them. We started to find our mojo late in the second quarter, before gifting Riewoldt his 700th career goal at half time.
I never lost hope we could claw it back and at 3QT, I felt the game was gettable albeit it would be a challenge to pull off a win.
Some things really stood out in the final quarter
- Dominated centre clearances, led by Adams who was involved in everything
- Ball movement through the corridor was excellent.
- Callum Brown may have finally come of age. Played his best ever game I've seen.
- Riewoldt and Lynch were dominated by Roughead and Maynard.
- Ruscoe is much better as a defender. I think he's a cult figure in the making!
- De Goey, Elliott and Cameron work well together once the forward line structure starts to click.
- Henry showed glimpses of his talent, albeit he's still very raw at this stage. Loved that one-handed mark in the final quarter.
Very concerned with Will Kelly's ability to deal with the rigours of AFL football. He's turning into the next Ben Reid with constant injuries.
I'm happy for Harvey to get a win on the board. It's highly unlikely he's coaching us beyond this year, but he'll have this win next to his name which is something he can be proud of.
Ginnivan needs to come in next week.

For sure Mr M. It would be interesting to know if anything has changed.
Maybe nothing has changed? After all, the boys did beat the ladder leaders in Buck's last game and won the game before that. Since then, they've played 2 out of 8 winning quarters of football, the last today being good enough to secure an inspiring win. |

Yep. I don’t want to take the limelight away from Harvey achieving his first win as a coach but can we please do it without having to load up on Nathan Buckley. |

Banger was more relaxed (well a win would help) and was very down to earth in terms I could relate to (sometimes Bucks had me a,thinking)
He said the positive way the leaders played could only heir the kids and some one brought up an error of Bianco to which he said. “Look he’s only a kid
He’s going to be a very good player for us”
He may not get the gig but he is better at it than I gave him credit for
Which makes me look at myself not him
