Taylor Adams worse than first thought. Tendon injury. At least 4 wks out. Sad

Adams: "We first thought it was muscle. It's not muscle, it's tendon so that's obviously not a great sign.

Won't play until after the bye IMO.

^ Yep. Niall notes the 4th week is the Melbourne QB game before the bye, "which would give Adams a further week's rest before the next game – effectively giving him six weeks between games if he returns in the game after the break".

Apparently Moore had scans last night or this morning.

On what, I don’t know, but can only dread the worst.

Hopefully ongoing precautionary scans.

Anyone know anything more?

Collingwood midfielder Brayden Sier is set for a stint on the sidelines after injuring his calf, according to SEN newsman Sam Edmund.

COLLINGWOOD

James Aish - Concussion (TEST)

Mason Cox - Ankle (TEST)

Brayden Sier - Toe (TEST)

Flynn Appleby - Ankle (TEST)

Ben Crocker - Calf (TEST)

Chris Mayne - Back (TEST) Last week listed at 2 to 3 weeks.

Nathan Murphy - Ankle (1-2 Weeks)

Tyler Brown - Shoulder (3 Weeks)

Taylor Adams - Groin (4 weeks)

Matt Scharenberg - Knee (5 weeks)

Lynden Dunn - Knee (Season)

Quote:
Adams will miss at least a month with a groin tendon problem but important big man Cox could return against Carlton at the MCG on Saturday. The Pies could also welcome back five other players with Mayne and Aish outside chances to play at AFL level while Sier, Crocker and Appleby would add to the depth to the club's VFL side. Murphy and Tyler Brown are nearing returns, while Scharenberg is a little further off as he comes back from a third knee reconstruction. The season seems over for veteran Dunn after a second anterior cruciate ligament rupture in nine months. - Ben Collins

Nothing on Moore or the Sier calf yet.

Nah, that's the 5th week. We've got Carlton, Saints, Swans, Freo, Melbourne and then the bye.

If he plays the Melbourne game it's over 5 weeks over the sidelines. Suspect he'll be aiming to play that game. If he doesn't play that, it's over 7 weeks between games

Well spotted! The Freo game is a home game too. Don't know how Jake missed it.

Bucks ruled big Mas out so Ben on his last game should retain his spot

Can’t help repeating what I’ve said we are much better placed with talls and medium size players this year

"The Magpies will be without forward Mason Cox for a second week as he overcomes a foot injury suffered when he was stood on in the win over Port Adelaide.

Midfielder Taylor Adams will be out at least until after the bye with his groin injury.

Defender James Aish is expected to be fit to return to the seniors after recovering from concussion."

so its a straight swap of Aish for Adams. I would love for Brown and Aish to be given the chance to spend some time in the middle playing the in and under role. Afterall, these are the roles each player is best suited to play (although neither would likely have the stamina to do what Adams does, maybe together they could replicate the output). They could each then have secondary roles (Aish going back and Brown going forward). I guess the only counter argument is whether you want to throw Aish into the middle given his fragile cranium.

The Moore thing really worries me. If he plays with any niggle (even an ankle), it will put added stress on the hammy. Losing Moore to a long term injury in a Carlton game would kill me.

If it’s to be an assist to have Darcy completely right (and I’m not saying his injury is serious) would resting him and give an All Australian CHB a game in defence against Blues

Only concern there is Ben is still good but would he be mobile to handle young forwards

James Aish - Concussion (TEST) Might play VFL this week.

Mason Cox - Ankle (TEST) Wont play again this week.

Brayden Sier - Toe (TEST) Nothing on his leg injury? Will keep an eye out to see if he's in the VFL or not.

Flynn Appleby - Ankle (TEST) No news. Will wait for VFL teams.

Ben Crocker - Calf (TEST) Named an emergency, so will be playing VFL unless a late change.

Chris Mayne - Back (TEST) Unbelievably will be playing AFL this week.

Nathan Murphy - Ankle (1-2 Weeks)

Tyler Brown - Shoulder (3 Weeks)

Taylor Adams - Groin (4 weeks)

Matt Scharenberg - Knee (5 weeks) Back to full training.

Lynden Dunn - Knee (Season)

And of course;

Dayne Beams - Hip (TBC) Hopefully only misses the one week.

Reported on SEN this morning Jamie Elliott may have a 'quad' related injury. Hopefully we don't do the usual injury report dance and if it's true, once the medical reports come back, tell it how it is.
