Their decisions are team-driven. It's not just about Pat. e.g. FTB Smith has a lotta input on the field.

The clueless bowling plans in this series are on the heads of all the senior players and McDonald.

What this team also needs is selectors who aren't trapped in the Cult of Warner.

2/66. Cummins sends Crawley packing. Smudge swallows it.

What a relief! Crawley is a flat-track bully like Smith.

Atrocious bowling to Crawley last innings. Gifted him a century.

NSW Job for mates really.

It's true there's always been a lotta NSW in it...

In Knox's article on the "Cult of Warner" he airs the conspiracy theory. It goes: Warner kept mum about ball-tampering stuff and his selection is paying him back. Knox doesn't believe it, but he says that's the talk you get when crazy selection decisions are made.

Catching not so good…
Frustrating that we seem to give them 6 free overs of runs before switching on

Donny, I reckon Mitch Marsh's batting since he came in has been very good. The best of all the Oz batters. (But maybe Marny has recovered after his last Test.) I've said that before.

And Green's catching has been brilliant.

You could certainly make a case that they should have opened with Marsh and dumped Warner.

Could also say Mark Wood's bowling has been very good for England.

A lotta articles about how he's changed the Ashes series. (And the decision not to pick him earlier.) Khawaja's runs have dried up 'cos of him. And FTB Smith is becoming his bunny.

But... The Oz batters really shoulda played him better. Just 'cos he's fast doesn't make him unplayable. FTB Smith's batting average is 29-ish against 90mph+ bowling... And 90mph is only 145 km/h. That's fast but not insanely fast. What would FTB do against Thommo? Pee himself, I guess.

Can’t understate how bigger loss Lyon is. One of the best spinners in the world, can contain, attack etc. when England just don’t have an answer for him really.
Left with the NSW brigade who don’t really seem to bowl to a plan aside from, oh that didn’t work, better bowl short.
