Speaking of coaches like to see Luke Power to join collingwood.

From accounts Brett Ratten is going to carlton and means power is available.

Could be a good ideo to ask Luke if he wants to join the Pies.

Only wish we got Tim Taranto as he was bandied around by Collingwood early in the piece.

His last qtr against Freo in the final round of the season, was a new level of disinterest you'd never hope to see from an AFL footballer.

2 possessions. Not for the coin this clown demands.

We had players in mind and got them not like in past years of missing out.
Good targets as well and we got our men.

Yes, from an end-of-year perspective, we did do well indeed Very Happy

Tom Mitchell has only been a Magpie for 2 days but already you can see how much it means to him to be playing for Collingwood.
This is so good to see and fills me with so much optimism that we have a genuine Star of the AFL that is super excited to have been traded to us.

90 nice, sounds like you're feeling better after the Grundy trade day? A few good posts coming from you since then; keep it up, but don't fully dispense with the wild and outlandish predictions - they add to the fun of the forum!

At the time, the hate for Barry Mitchell was huuuuge.

So much money ... for what >>?????????????????????

We didn't have the internet or all the information, but jeez what a farce.

The love lasted 5 seconds, and then he was off to Carlton. Just imagine.

If it was today, with internet and forums..,, it would be a bloodbath!!!

And his son is here today. With open arms. !!!

You could not imagine this in your wildest dreams.

Unbelievable.

The best part of this trade period was that the Pies have people in charge who aren't caught up in the romance of generational players.

We delisted two Browns and refused to pick up a Weideman.

I refuse to count Mitchell as a father / son because Mitchell was like Henry - he never really wanted to be here.

Totally agree, the Browns worth the early punt & if we had the chance to draft Weideman then we definitely would of, great junior.

If Eddie was around he would publicly defend the Brown decision whilst talking up the importance of the Weideman name at the club.

It's that ego that led to overpaid players cause no required player would leave Collingwood on his watch.

Eddie is a fantastic person but a disastrous personality to have around a football department. McRae made it clear when he arrived that the admin administers and the football department looks after the footballers. Something not mentioned about Tom Mitchell is what he brings to the younger players like Harrison, MaCrae, Draper and even Lipinski. Daniel Welles would have been a better pick up at Mitchell’s age than when we got him (32). The whole midfield group will learn a lot just by having Mitchell around them. And when Mitchell is gone in the another 3-4 years hopefully the others step up.

The dust is settling on Trade Period.

At present, the Pies have done quite well.

Those delisted may find their way onto another Club's list- some maybe even be listed as rookies by Collingwood.

I would certainly look at listing Riley Collier-Dawkins 193cm & 88kg midfielder delisted by Richmond.

I imagine Madgen will be delisted soon- I would keep Poulter on the list and take picks 16, 25 & 27 to the November draft...

With these picks, we need to look at the likes of :
Jedd Busslinger- 196cm 82kg key defender
Lewis Hayes -197cm 81kg key defender
Olli Hotton 181cm 77kg midfielder
Henry Hustwaite 194cm 84kg midfielder
Max Gruzewski 193cm 83kg intercept marking defender (Howe replacement)

Unless Wright can weave some magic and parlay picks 25 & 27 into a future second rounder for next years draft of course..

Some good prospects in that lot, Lad.

We need to identify pick 16 will be anything from 17 - 19 on the night ( Ashcroft, Fletcher, Davey all as F / S nominations ) Conversely, our pick 51 could come in up to 6 / 7 spots on the night.
Sadly, Busslinger will be gone by our first pick as the Eagles will focus on their quality locals. Ollie Hotton is Trent’s son but isn’t eligible as an F /S prospect. Saw him a couple times at the Dragons and although he’s much lower to the ground than his dad, hes managed to retain his fathers “ nonchalant “ traits. Hustwaite should also be around the mark and ticks a lot of boxes, while “ Grizzly “ was impressive during the championships (very strong mark )

I imagine a couple clubs will likely take a “ punt “ on the two SA KPFs, Lemmey and Scully, who were all the rage 12 months ago but have slipped down the pecking order since the Vics have just had their first full season of footy in a while. Id like to see the Pies take a chance on one of these two with one of our later picks.

In terms of further improving our picks, Essendon giving up #22 is a real chance as part of matching the Davey F / S nomination. G W S may also consider giving up 19 but there doesn’t seem to be many incentives elsewhere for other clubs to give away their first picks for multiple later selections.

As an aside for the draft nuffies, the W T F moment of the night will be whether the Giants choose to select Ashcroft with their pick one or go straight to their preferred player of choice. Kangas played cute last year by picking J H F and Collingwood benefitted immensely from it. It will be interesting to see if the Giants afford the Lions the same luxury. Memo Giants, never give a sucker an even break. For the benefit of 17 other clubs and the creditability of the draft, call out Ashcrofts name first.

Olli Hotton, son of former Collingwood and Carlton forward Trent Hotton.

If we use pick 51, I'd have a crack at Casey Voss. He's the best mature age recruit in the country. (Turned 22 in September).
