I just watched Richard Jewell on netflix. very hard watched, sobbed at the end.

So it was around 3.30pm here, on the 27th of July, 1996. My younger sister rang me from the phone room at the Atlanta Olympics, Where She was competing for Australia, in the Badminton team. She had just had a shower and was about to go to bed, but She called me first. We were maybe 30 min in and suddenly She said "I don't know what's happening but a huge crowd just ran in to use the phones, So I should probably go now". We said good night and I love you and hung up. My phone rang immediately. I cant remember who the first one was but they told me about the bomb and I said its ok, I have been on the phone to Her for the last 1/2 an hour, I literally just hung up. I turned on the news and then I called my parents and older sister to tell them She's ok, we were talking when it went off.

I will never forget how I felt that day.

She's now a cop, has been for over 25 years, and I staunchly defend the police most of the time. OMG what the FBI did to that poor man, and because of their laziness the real bomber had time to commit more carnage.

worse, they killed him, as surely as if He had got the death penalty.

watch it.

Commando. 85 flick starring Arnie

Fun fact, the bad guy in the movie with the chainmail singlet is an Aussie actor named Vernon Wells.

The house I moved into in Camberwell in 86 had been previously occupied by Wells, I got one of his royalty cheques in the mail. It wasn't enough to buy a packet of smokes in 1986 so I just kept it as a souvenir.

That's a great story on all fronts.
Bennett : [after he shot Matrix] John! How's your arm John?
John Matrix : [hidden behind a wall] Come over and find out!

He also played one of the more iconic roles as Wez in Mad Max 2.

I have been surprised that Tarantino hadn't picked him up for one of his films.

Watched Fall Guy at the flicks this week. A bit lame most of the time, with a few exceptions of some good stunt sequences. Overall, too ho hum for me.

Agree, while I like both actors (the cast was pretty solid all round) it was pretty forgettable. I'm a harsh movie critic though. Good to see the Lee Majors & Heather Thomas cameo.
Laurie's rating, 4 goals 6 behinds.

Old Henry. 2021 action Western drama set in a pretty bleak and unforgiving section of the old west. Widower old Henry and his teenage son take in a wounded man with a stash of cash who claims he's a lawman, then some outlaws arrive claiming to be lawmen. Old Henry has to decide who to trust and as it escalates to a confrontation, Old Henry's past is revealed.

Takes a bit to get going, but hang in there and it's gripping watching and only about 90 minutes.

Very good watch.

Under Paris, 2024 French flic dubbed into American English.

What would you do if there was a Shark in the Seine River? What would you do if there's a shitload of sharks in the Seine and you're about to host a Triathlon in the river.

Very good movie, great scenery, understated horror elements mostly, different ending but maybe that's just how the French work. Another 90 minute Netflix gem, watch it.

Expendables 4, or Expend4bles. It should have the subtitle, "It's Christmas Time" cos it really was all about Jason Statham.

Quite enjoyed it.

Spoiler alert, you could see from a mile off that the death of a senior member of the team was bogus and that they would reappear at the end. Everyone likes some deep fried Jumbo Shrimp.
