'Cause they don't do 7 year/$7m contracts... Hawkins got paid <$300k this year.

And how much did he pay for the farm Frank Costa sold him. Wink

Did I hear somewhere that we're possibly getting a second rounder and third rounder for Grundy? Someone tell me they're dreamin' and there's something wrong with my ears?

Yes I think this truly stinks of something being done to manipulate the salary cap. You can’t expect all their players to happily accept 20% cuts to their salaries just to bring in player after player after they have just won the flag. You have to be pretty naive to believe that. Something smells worse than a dead rat next to a dead skunk 👃

20% paycut for the top end players isnt actually that much (instead of $900k, someone is getting paid $720k at Geelong). Clearly they have a lot of players they are paying at or close to the league average. Then think about the post-footy options all clubs try to provide (including our own).

Lets take another couple examples: Jeremy Cameron bought a 50 acre farm. If that's your go, where else could you do that and have a 15 minute drive to work to play AFL footy? Dangerfield moved home to Moggs Creek with family - how much $$$ would you give up to do that?

You have to be pretty cynical to believe that a) Geelong are wilfully cheating the cap or b) the AFL are letting Geelong cheat the cap. Looking at how the rest of the club is run, is it so hard to believe that they manage their list better?

Also, they have only just won the flag, like a week ago. Winning a flag has not yet had a chance to factor into their contract position.

I'll be happy to backtrack in a couple years time if they are stripped of points for breaching the cap, but I just don't believe it's a great conspiracy.

You're probably right - how much did Swanny pay for his stake in the Albion?

Nah, that involved a different mafia Wink Our club had The Tunnel and a pie shop on Smith St. Besides, remember Collingwood’s disastrous property investment attempt with our previous board?

Excellent !
Now demand their pick 7 and we will give them Henry and a little something extra in return.
There’s a Falcon and a Rebel ( western Vic ) in the top eight picks anyway, so they won’t need pick 7. The Cats will just poach them both back to the club in two years time.

I can’t confirm that but with the Dees possibly being surprised with both Hunt and Bedford wanting out, it might be they are now prepared to pay more of Grundys wage. It’s all relative and as disappointing as that all sounds, it doesn’t get approved unless the club sees a benefit in that outcome.

"We suspect that he’s probably going to Melbourne. We’ve had good dialogue with them and we feel that’s where that’ll head.”

Hardly sounds like its the Club who is pushing him out the door...

Henry = We want overs thanks geelong
Fiorini & Mitchell = Packet of chips & a coke

On the official GWS AFL website Giants have 39 in the third round and we have 42, 47 and 48. Hopefully we trade 48 for 39. Cool
