Post subject: Who replaces JDGReply with quote

This to me stinks this injury to JDG i feel is all goes well with the surgery and he heals well and quick then looking at say 5 weeks. So who replaces him. I feel we will rotate this using a hand full of players:

both the brown brothers
daicos
sier
noble and
ill even try to use even reid to come out of his dolldroms and play a sort of jdg role for a temporary time.

So who else can fill the void?

I know sidebottom is coming back very soon i feel he only has 1 match left to go. Together with maybe Greenwood (3 weeks time) and fingers crossed Langdon too around about then.

I feel we need to shuffle Jdg spot. We have done well in regards to sidy.

I think we need to think out side the square too. The better this is handled the better our flag prospects.
Maybe elliott could go back to the forward line. Or pick a tallish player in Tom Wilson,Appleby,Murphy or even one of the irish lads.
its a case of shuffle and getting the selection right.
Im had it with these injuries though but to the selectors we are adapting well to them i must say.

It was pointed out by another poster that JDG did not contest a single midfield clearance against Geelong, but played entirely as a forward. Our midfield performed brilliantly against Geelong's. They had Duncan out, but we were missing Sidey. Admittedly they lost Selwood, but that is part of the game, and when they had him we were holding him well. There is no reason to assume that our midfield set up needs further strengthening after Thursday's performance. Cox to come in for JDG. Not sure if we need Schazza to come in as well. I thought Noble was really good on Thursday, and with both Noble and IQ, as well as AB and JS, we looked dangerously fast around the ground throughout the game. I guess the decision regarding a choice between Schazza and Noble will depend on whether we judge that we need more height in defence.

Cox in for De Goey.
Elliott thru the middle has looked really good, so I think just a forward replacement and back up for Grundy is needed.

AB was quiet against the Cats after an impressive debut. I do hope they persist with him.

I’m not convinced with Cox, Reid or Cameron up forward against the Eagles. They all worry me when the ball hits the deck and the defenders rebound too easily. I wonder if they could swing Mark Keane forward? Appleby maybe to too small aerially but could compete with ground balls.

Hope it's dry so Cox can come back and kick a bag. He looked pissed off about not being part of last night's win. Hopefully he can channel that into finding some form.

Now I am a Cox fan but he did look mighty "annoyed in the rooms"

We need a goal kicker and Cox can. Coxie must also take at least the forward 50 rucks for Brodie (just to get Brodie through imagine both Coxie & Cameron with Brodie rested "maybe the Adelaide game")

But I am not sure that Atu is a goal kicker but he cannot be dropped this week, Cal has to my mind not looked like it since the Doggies and needs to be reminded he is still building a career.
WHE looked much better (except for the kick around the corner) he is a "nice kick" user the drop punt please.
Daics yep knows how to kick them, Billy yes

Phillips is ok but

Anyway with Atu, Cal, Mayne and a lesser extent Taylor not being good goal kickers maybe we try Wilson as a medium 3rd / 4th tall with Cox & Checkers & WHE

The only backman who can kick goals are Crispy & Bruzza, Moore can but he is doing more than his job currently IQ might be able but!

or go with small goal kickers Broomie (but I have no idea how he is travelling likewise with Wilson) or Apples who has been kicking goals in the scratch matches but in the seniors would be a defensive forward first.

But I think it is time to swap Sier for Wills

^Cal has no confidence in his goal kicking ability. Even from 40 out he's looking for someone to pass it to.

I've been very critical of Cox lately, but if the conditions are dry it might be worth bringing him back for this game.

It will also help Mihocek, who's been manhandled by McGovern in the past.

I wouldn't be dropping Atu he gives us tackle pressure like a young Maccaffer did in our forward 50. We need hard bodies against wet toast.

out : JDY
Cox is a great foil at worst and a prime target at best; also lightens the load on Grundy (and we really don't need him injured) - Checkers to do well.

don't think many changes after a win. All the lads are on the up.
