Wills missing is the biggest selection surprise for me.
With no Treloar available and Sier not considered I just assumed Wills would be an automatic inclusion and we look to use his size and aggression to quell the ability of the Bulldog mids to get clean ball around the stoppages.
Bit of a strange decision for mine given he played his defined role pretty well late last year.
The two players with the biggest blowtorch under them at the start of this season are Hoskin-Elliott and Thomas IMO.
They need to hit the scoreboard hard like 2018 or show big improvements in the pressure and physicality stakes otherwise it will only compound the problem we may have owing to the smaller stature of Daicos and C. Brown in comparison to bigger midfield groups.
Richmond have shown you can have a fleet of smalls and be highly successful but they seem to have no problem finding the types you need for this to work.
Off the top of head for a large group of smalls to work well within a team and combat bigger stonger playing groups each individual needs to possess at least 2 of these qualities which are either elite talent, genuine speed, high aerobic capability or desire to make a hard physical contest.
If I was after a third player we really need to see step up if indeed he's capable of doing it then it's Cox.

I agree - it would be good to see what this centre combination could manufacture!! |
+2 if Maynard can't play the role bucks wants from him, trial him anyways just as a tagger on the dog libratore. He might intimidate him enough to then win a few footys and be the big body needed in there to also combat the Bont or Mcray.

Under an hour to go and Foxtel informs me, via Error F 100, they are short staffed (Covid-19) and probably won't be showing the game.
For me, it'll be back to the 50s/60s and listening to the match on radio.
I'm in the Northern Rivers, NSW. Anyone in Melbourne experiencing the same disappointment ?
