Yes, I think that would be true of ANY club's list. Probably worse for most other clubs (i.e. would start to have a noticeable effect with the 23rd to 29th players picked) - it's only our depth that's enabled us to stay competitive, but now it seems the tipping point has been reached, and it won't reverse until we get several quality players back (by which time it may be too late as low confidence will have taken it's hold). _________________ I find your lack of faith disturbing |

It's not so much the height as that they have no athleticism. |
Brown and Daicos have no athleticism.

That's correct. They lack speed. They also lack endurance. |

Neither very slow nor very fast. Like a lot of teammates. |

They don't have great vertical leaps either. Or beep tests. Or yo-yo tests.
Or strength. Or power.
What definition do you want? Football talent? |

I might be wrong, but watching the Cats beat the Swans, I reckon they only had one dwarf in their side. That's the model I'd like us to follow. |

I think WC had many you would call dwarves, but maybe that's why they lost to us. |

Playing all of Brown, Daics, Thomas, Treloar, Quaynor and Varcoe in the one side is suicidal. Of those, I reckon only Quaynor, Treloar and Thomas should be getting a game.
It seems we have only one strong bodied midfielder, in De Goey, whereas we should have 3, so that JDG can play mainly up forward where we desperately need him.
In the absence of Sier and Adams, we should be playing Wills and Goldsack. Then again wtfwik? |
Don’t quite agree with all of the nominated players but I laughed at thread title _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

Athleticism is a combination of factors including speed, strength and agility.
Olympic Gymnasts are incredibly athletic but aren't going to go well in AFL.
No one would suggest Swanny was a model of athleticism, but he was a footballer. I'd suggest both Brown and Daicos are more athletic than Aish or Langdon. Langdon in particular isn't strong, fast or agile but he gets where the ball is. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Langdon isn't what this thread is about. Nor is Swan.
The claim of the OP is that having "dwarves" is a problem.
The counterclaim is that small guys with athleticism are fine.
When they don't have athleticism, it's like 7-feet tall guys who can't take a mark. |

The OP also suggested that the "Dwarves" were those under 180cm.
We only have 4 players under 180cm on our list.
Elliot, C. Brown, Thomas and Daicos, all @ 178cm (5'10" in the old)
The counter claim of athleticism came from you
Geelong who was mentioned above by the OP, have 3 players under 180 on their list and 2 of them played this round
Richmonds team that belted us on Friday had a number of players under 180cm.
Stack 179
Prestia 175
Short 178
Rioli 179
Lambert 178
Bolton 175 _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |
