http://www.theage.com.au/business/workplace-relations/7eleven-workers-caught-in-cashback-scam-20150907-gjh0kt.html
After the lid was blown on systemic wage fraud known as the "half pay scam" across the 7-Eleven convenience store empire, a new more insidious scam has emerged known as the "cash scam".
It revolves around employees now receiving the correct award rate in their nominated bank accounts for the hours they have worked.
If they refuse to play ball, they lose their job and are threatened with deportation.
They are then expected to pay part of it back to the franchisee in cash, away from the surveillance cameras that operate in most of the 620 stores.
If they refuse to play ball, they lose their job and are threatened with deportation. Their names become mud around the network.

There is nothing new in this. When unemployment was massive in the mid 1970s it was not uncommon for small business owners such as snack bars to employ young school leavers the award wage and have the parent give the board the kid paid back to them. Young women in the 15-17 year old range were particularly targeted. The parents agreed because it was better than the kid sitting at home on the dole and tying up phone and TV. Some apprenticeships were also gained this way. What makes this worse is that it seems to be done by much richer people who are targeting people here that are frightened of being deported because they are here to live and probably have no intention of returning home when they finish studying.
