Doesn't exactly seem like professional police behaviour, though. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

Get with it you old fart, the Cops are taking to social media and using stuff like this to get younger people following them. Nothing like showing some humour to break down the barriers. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Yeah, I get that, but how does broadcasting people's private notes square with proper procedure? If your house gets raided—because you've committed a crime, or you're just a suspect, or it's someone you live with—and the cops take a few photos of some embarrassing entry in your diary and post it online with the caption "hey lads, take a gander at this, what a loser!", would you not be slightly peeved?
Not saying police have to be robots, but a bit of respect for privacy and official protocol wouldn't go astray. Stuff like this doesn't exactly inspire much confidence in their judgement or professionalism. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

The junkies weren't named or shamed, no identifying material exists, no one will know who it was except the people who wrote it unless they publically sook, which is unlikely.
No breach of privacy, play on
How would I feel? If I was dumb enuff to write a to do list like that I'm not sure if I'd be miffed at it being published or read it online and laff and the dickheads who wrote the note forgetting it was me. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

The use of "Dob in" is not what you expect on a government website, you'd expect other words like whistle blower or something else. The incongruity does have humerous potential, obviously not for everyone though.
FWIW I have no problem with encouraging people to dob in people rorting the system, whether it be immigration or social security. The people rorting the system are thieves and cheats. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

This and the next generation are conditioned to it. The all have facebook and more and more are getting instagram and twitter etc. And the likes of dobbertext at the footy. Institutions like the churches and private schools are going to find out the hard way over harbouring child abusers. From now on I suspect any accusation or innocent social media blunder and they will be deemed guilty. Recruiting people are using these things to weed out applicants. Sports players are paying a high price for using this stuff. Journos are being sacked because it is going out with out management approval. The lunatics have taken over the asylum.
Governments led by deperate people (elected) and advised by power hungry zealots (not elected) are just taking advantage of it. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |

I don't have much problem with it either, necessarily. Just thought this was a weird thread to put it in.
Is "dob in" really so informal? Perhaps I'm showing my age here. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |
