'... Craig McRae believes the mounting injury toll across the competition is sending the AFL a message about the length of games.
The reigning premiership coach said the Pies would only have 29 players to choose from for Friday night's clash with Fremantle...
... with McRae revealing that his club's in-house data had 153 players across the competition missing last week's round because of injury.
...McRae said he felt players were "living on the edge" from a physical standpoint...'

McFly on JdG:
"He's got a fresh injury, he's got an abdominal strain. He got that in the game and played through it and pulled up quite sore from it. He's getting scans now to check out what that means.
"We tried to give it some time just to see how it was going and he obviously didn't get through it (training) and then went off for scans. We'll find out a bit more how deep it it is."

...
"No, this is a separate injury.
"Actually the other one has sort of settled down and this has expressed itself as an abdominal injury.
"It's nothing to do with OP. We actually worked through that process of assessing it wasn't OP or the start of that."

^I'll take you down memory lane from 2019 - we had 27 players to chose from going into the R10 GCS match. Despite the toll on our list, we still went deep into the finals, losing the Prelim to GWS.

Taylor Adams (hamstring — TBC), James Aish (shoulder — TBC), Dayne Beams (hip — Indefinite), Jordan De Goey (hamstring — 2-3 weeks), Lynden Dunn (knee — Season), Levi Greenwood (hamstring — TBC), Will Kelly (hamstring — TBC), Tom Langdon (knee — season), Darcy Moore (hamstring — 2-3 weeks), Nathan Murphy (back — test), Sam Murray (provisional suspension — TBC), John Noble (calf — test), Tom Phillips (collarbone — test), Isaac Quaynor (foot stress — 3-4 weeks), Ben Reid (hamstring — TBC), Jordan Roughead (concussion — test), Jaidyn Stephenson (suspension — 5 weeks), Daniel Wells (knee — 5 weeks), Brayden Sier (calf — Test)

When he kicked that goal from 50 late in the first I remember thinking he looked a tad proppy after it, I reckon that's when the injury occurred. Being wary of reinjuring the groin and he's adjusted his kicking action a little and BAM.

So who are the new injuries of round 11?

● Mason Cox (knee)
● Brody Mihocek (hamstring)
● Scott Pendlebury (bicept)

Magpies count injury cost after Freo draw as Cox, Mihocek and Pendlebury face scans

We could get back: Reef, Howe, Bytel ?

^ Fly mentioned that Howe is a possibility of returning for the Bulldogs game.

If Reef has recovered well from his concussion, he should be available given he'll have surpassed the 12-day requirement.

^Fly said Cox had concussion as well as a sore knee, so he's out this weekend.

What's longest injury-free run of Kreuger's?
3 weeks in the VFL, I think

If we pick him and he gets thru the game playing well, that'll be an achievement.
It's now or never.

We’ll be struggling to field a team at this rate.

Quote:
Mason Cox has been ruled out for 6 weeks with MCL injury. Joe Richards has a foot fracture and won’t return before Rd 16. Brody Mihocek to miss 2-4 weeks with hamstring strain. Jordan De Goey out for another month. Full details on @AFLcomau

Our mounting and prolonged injury toll has severely dented our hopes of a top 4 finish. Sure, it's still possible, but it's now looking less likely. Nevertheless, if we can get most of our A team up and about by the end of the h & a season and finish in the 8, we are capable of winning the flag from there.

I agree. This team has the mental strength and the self-belief to win the flag from outside the 4. That is what this season is proving. Despite a catastrophic injury load over the last 2 to 3 weeks, the team has found ways to win or at least refuse to lose.
The injury crisis continues to deepen, and there must come a tipping point where the loss of personnel overcomes the resilience and the total commitment to a system. With the loss of Joe Richards as well as Cox and Checkers, the tipping point may well arrive as early as next week. But this team is as pyschologically tough as they come, and whatever the result this game is another opportunity for this team to further demonstrate its mental strength and a further opportunity to practice the system based strategy that is knitting this team together. I likewise think Top 4 will be extremely difficult, given that our injury list will not likely dissipate for another 5 to 6 weeks, but Top 8 will not be beyond us, and from there I think no one should put limits on what this team can achieve. It is a champion team in every sense of the word. A team which is far greater than just the sum of the individual players' abilities.
