^^ it's not a philosophy that started in 2007.

2004 we traded pick 7 to the Hawks who used it to grab Lewis. Lewis would have offered pretty handy leadership 2008 and beyond.

1999 pick 3 for KcKee. Pav instead would have offered pretty handy leadership 2008 and beyond.

You're covering a long timespan there Very Happy.

The Lewis one is a little disingenuous. We still had a pick just a few spots later. The mistake was in preferring Egan to Lewis, not trading down.

And other than trading picks late in a team build to fill holes (which is 100% correct and every team would do it), it's not a club philosophy. If you want we can go through our failed draft picks and say we would have been better trading them for Ablett or Hodge, which is what you're doing in assuming the best possible outcome for traded picks. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Trading pick 14 and using 30 on Ball brought us a flag in 2010. It's telling that you can't even accept that this was the right thing to do.

I hold a grudge... Wink

My philosophy, not the clubs...

And yep, assuming we get some things right but some of them are relatively easy (Pav), other a little tougher. In 2016 it is much more a science with all the screening.

looks like we are hoarding late rounders to get the Brown and Daicos trade done. a couple more third rounders for frost and cloke and we should be golden.

Hudson on SEN reported 44 & 62. I'd sugggest these will go towards the father and sons or in some way towards WHE and if we end up with a crap pick for Cloke from the dogs we'll just pass it onto the Dees for Dunne.

7 or 8 years of development and we get a crap pick for our effort.
This trade season isn't bringing home the bacon.
It is bringing home the snout.
It stinks!!!!

I reckon a few players are going to be left swinging in the breeze this year.
