Post subject: Hayden Kennedy says "Scrap the bounce" | |
|
Umpire Kennedy believe's the bounce to start a quarter and after a goal is scored should be scrapped as he rekons it impacts too physically on the umpires body
And alledge's it does ot help new umpires coming into the game
Over 130 years the boys in white have done it
Night premiership--no bounce

Why don't they have a kickoff and save the poor dears from breaking a nail. There used to be one of them and they got pA
aid a wage supplement and usually a few pies and a couple of large beer bottles in the ice. They only got a hot shower at Vic Park if we won.
A few more to ponder.
1. Last to touch is penalised at boundary throw ins so they can't hurt themselves throwing it in.
2. Goal reviews for every goal and behind so goallies don't get hurt waving flags.Ie abolish them
3. Votes be given to an panel to adjudicate so they don;t risk a papercut on the envelopes. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |

Absolutely scrap it, just throw it up. It gives an even contest every time, just do it.

to do centre bounce--in fact all bouncing
Ah but flag waving too stressfull for pea heart Kennedy and co _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

A lot of people above have immediately hoed into Kennedy, especially over this "impacts too heavily on the umpire's body" comment. But I suspect that few (if any) of those who are scoffing have umpired at AFL level. Kennedy has, so I think I'd accept his opinion on the matter more readily than those of us who sit opining behind computer screens. One of the joys of social media is that so many people with so much knowledge about things that they have never personally done, are given a platform to denounce the views those who have demonstrated experience at the highest level.
I suspect it is a pretty demanding unnatural physical action to have to repeat multiple times, especially when you are tired from ceaseless running, but it is a part of the game's spectacle at the centre bounce. So I'd say centre bounces should be retained, but around the ground a throw would be fine. _________________ Two more flags before I die! |

Or how about we get umpires who can get in the right position and make the right decision rather than whether they can bounce a ball? |

The bounce is only used in the centre square to start the quarter or after a goal.
Here's an idea. if we want to keep the bounce, get a specialist ball bouncer to do it, leaving the umpires free to adjudicate. They could come on and off like an NFL Punter. They set up and do the bounce while the central umpire can stand back and watch the ruck contest. Once they play is underway, they run off.
Win Win.
We keep the bounce and the umpires get chosen for decision making ability not coordination. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Three frikin field umps and now another official --more cost to cover less than acceptable umpire/s
Will that add to the cost to supporters if it happens when they attend games
These people are "untouchable" physically and want more power to get their own way _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |
