I'm actually pretty good at chess 🏆 |
..off topic I know , but it might make a good Chess match for spectators, a tussle in the tavern...

^Pi, If you like that kind of thing, IIRC some of VPT regulars used to play Scrabble against each other somehow. I'm sure the same could be worked for those who enjoy chess, which is probably more people than we know (I'm not one of them; I was just using it as a metaphor!). Stick around and we'll ask David...
David, is a Nick's chess tourney feasible? There is usually a solid contingent who enjoy it. _________________ In the end the rain comes down, washes clean the streets of a blue sky town.

I'd certainly be down for it! The only challenge would be finding some kind of free online platform to play on (that may or may not be Facebook).
If there are enough expressions of interest, then I think this could certainly be done. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

Haven't played chess for over 25 years. Remember the rules, forget all the principles. Pass. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

I would join, but I've just finished busting my guts the last two weeks writing an AI Kalaha player. Chess is orders of magnitude more complicated. No way can I play.
Up for scrabble but, I should still have my cheat program somewhere. |

David, I'm not sure if this is feasible, but you should try to promo this briefly on the main forum—while chess is not particularly exciting for many of us, a lot of chess types probably find our political arguments and in-house discussions a snooze fest, fleeing the VPT shortly after clicking on the wrong thread! _________________ In the end the rain comes down, washes clean the streets of a blue sky town.
