Post subject: NRL STATE OF ORIGIN MIGHTY N.S.W v qld | |
|
Once again its that time of the year to thing all things footy whether it be aussie rules or r. league. Which brings me to r. league where this is a sports bar the pinnicle of the league year is funly enough not the grand final in the last sunday of september but the state of origin played around may and june.
This is regarded and is the toughest and most intense physical team sport knowen with no disrespect to aussie rules , league is alot more solid and lacks the speed of aussie rules but its like 2 tanks running at each other compared with 2 ferraris formular ones whising around each other.
Therefore this battle is played between 2 combattents.
NEW SOUTH WALES v QUEENSLAND
NEW SOUTH WALES thought up the game around 1910 which makes it younger than aussie rules and therefore rightly so owns the games dominace
QUEENSLAND adaopted the game only in the early 1980's and spendt up big so that they could compete with the highly lucarative and competive Sydney market it was only in the 80's qld dominated 90's belonged to NSW and 21century NSW also.
If this year was in the 1820 it wouldn't matter because NEW SOUTH WALES covered both Victoria and Queensland and Victoria and Queensland were once New South Wales _________________ How was Wimbledon! |

MAGNESIUM,
Rugby League was founded in England and introduced to Australia in 1908. When Rugby League was founded it wasn't professional, its rules were no different to rugby union - and it wasn't even called Rugby League. All those changes came later.
Here's a potted history.
1895: The Northern Rugby Football Union founded at the George Hotel, Huddersfield (becomes the Rugby Football League in 1922)
1897: Challenge Cup introduced. Batley beat St.Helens 10-3 in the first final
1906: Teams reduced from 15 to 13 players
1908: League launched in Australia and New Zealand. Both send touring teams to Britain, starting international competition
1929: First Challenge Cup Final at Wembley. Wigan beat Dewsbury
1933: League launched in France
1954: The first World Cup, played in France and won by Great Britain
1966: Limited tackle rule introduced - four tackles before a scrum (raised to six in 1972)
1982: Max Krilichís Invincible Australians initiate the modern era of fast, athletic league dominated by the Aussies
1996: The professional game moves to summer with the creation of Super League. Civil war in Australia with rival Super League and Australian Rugby League competitions _________________ Donny.
It's a game. Enjoy it. |
