Late yesterday, the Department became aware that a number of COVID-19 test results were incorrectly recorded by a third-party software vendor supporting a private provider.
These results included 9 cases reportable on 26 September and 140 cases reportable on 27 September. Those 149 cases are reported in today’s numbers – meaning today’s actual case number is 867. |

adly, NSW Health is today reporting the deaths of seven people with COVID-19 – four women and three men.

There have been 316 COVID-19 related deaths in NSW since 16 June 2021 and 372 in total since the start of the pandemic.
There have been 54,714 locally acquired cases reported since 16 June 2021, when the first case in this outbreak was reported.
There are currently 1,155 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, with 213 people in intensive care, 113 of whom require ventilation.

Of the 863 locally acquired cases reported to 8pm last night, 241 are from South Western Sydney Local Health District (LHD), 161 are from Western Sydney LHD, 98 are from South Eastern Sydney LHD, 80 are from Sydney LHD, 63 are from Hunter New England LHD, 62 are from Illawarra Shoalhaven LHD, 53 are from Nepean Blue Mountains LHD, 31 are from Northern Sydney LHD, 29 are from Central Coast LHD, 21 are from Western NSW LHD, 14 are from Southern NSW LHD, five are from Far West LHD, three are in correctional settings, |

And Australia has reached the "100,000 reported cases since the beginning of the pandemic" mark.

I was listening to a podcast yesterday in which they mentioned that just 56% of Americans are fully vaccinated (just over 60% having had a first shot) and that there's little sign that they're going to get far beyond that in the near future; the numbers have been increasing, but at a much slower rate since they hit around 45% having gotten the initial vaccine in early May.
That's pretty astounding given how much of a head start they had on us (we were still in single figures fully vaxxed just two months ago) – we're already up to nearly 80% nationally having had a first shot, and even though we're still around the 50% mark fully vaccinated, that's growing steadily by the week; I well believe we'll hit 80% in most states within a couple of months.
Considering the US seems to have pretty much given up on lockdowns by now, I really wonder what their strategy is to get out of this.

We are really accelerating now and are passing many other countries.
The problem in the USA isn't supply, it's vaccine hesitancy.
Anyone over 12 can pretty much walk into a Walgreens and get a shot, no problems but a lot of them still won't.

Which is why people who claim we wouldn’t be in lockdown now if vaccines were ordered earlier are fos. If we weren’t in lockdown then vaccine rates would be far lower, it took a very real threat of get vaccinated or stay locked up to kickstart things. |

Yet none of the people who’ve died this year were fully vaccinated and the vast majority had vaccines available to them since about March…
The US and nearly every other country worldwide shows that you could have millions of doses but there will be plenty of well justified hesitancy.
Only when it hits people hard by being locked down do they get over that hesitancy.
No lockdowns and more vaccines available and I’d bet we’d have a far lower rate of vaccination than we do now. |
