So, maybe it's time for a bit of Lockdown Karaoke?
Let's come up with a playlist of good lockdown songs, and feel free to add some Weird Al Yankovic twists.
Starting off:
Don't stand so close to me - The Police
The Prisoner - Iron Maiden
Shut Down - Australian Crawl
Shut Down - Beach Boys (different song)
Don't shut me down - ABBA (new song)
If I could walk 500 miles - The Proclaimers (aspirational)
Leaving on a Jet Plane - John Denver (also aspirational)
Then some Weird Al ones:
Better be Home Schooled - Crowded House. (obvious one)
The Final Lockdown - Europe (also obvious)
You're on Mute - John Farnham. Sung to the tune of "You're the Voice, chorus (for all those doing video calls while working from home goes...)
You're on mute
We can't understand you
Make a noise and make it clear
Whoa etc.
Lockdown Dan - Billy Joel
A parody of Uptown Girl, a work in progress. Opening lines so far go:
Lockdown Dan
Got us living in a locked down land
Our alternative is Matthew Guy
Bet Brett Sutton won't be calling by
Suggestions to the playlist please _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

How did I not list this before?

"Without going out of my door, I can know all things on Earth,
Without looking out of my windiow, I can know the ways of Heaven.
The farther one travels, the less one knows - the less one really knows".
Go, George.
Only The Beatles or The Kinks could have tucked a masterpiece like this away as the "B" side of a single. In this case, the "A" side was Lady Madonna. |
