Are head knocks happening late in the quarters and second half? Players are fatigued due to less rotations and accidents happen. |

Maybe if you want those kind of stats we might already have 'rough' comparisons (as players are fitter now and the game is clearly not as 'rough and tumble' like in the old days) if you compare more recent data vs old say just pre/post AFL beginning.
It may be a contributing factor, it may not? And maybe the offset isn't the number of rotations but that coaches/strategists haven't adjusted gamestyles accordingly.
We just don't know? But I suspect unless people were falling over like tenpins 30 years ago, it's a fairly long bow to draw. _________________ All Aboard!! Choo Choo!!! |

Feels like we’re seeing more concussions lately, so who knows. More than 10 years ago, they played on after head knocks so there’s that. |

As a matter of interest, should more players be encouraged to wear helmets? Would it make a significant difference to this problem? Comments welcome. <By all means - but in the injury discussion thread, where this post has been moved, not in the injury tracker thread. Thanks - Pies4shaw> _________________ Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Just because it's dark and stormy now doesn't meant that you aren't headed for glorious sunshine! |

Bugger, Howe turns 31 on 29 June, hamstrings and older footballers can be the death knell for a career _________________ In the end, it's not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments took your breath away |

Damn it’s always the good players who get injured. And they’re always out for a long time, not just a week or two. |

This is horrible news. I was really looking forward to seeing Howe return this week. He is close to 100 club games. I can't believe it. There's a slim chance he returns before the end of the season, but it was a similar story last year. I hope we haven't seen the end of his high flying marks.
With Howe out for most of the year and Murphy and Roughy out against Sydney, we're going to need some luck to get over the Swans now. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

Philosophical about these injuries.
Howe is 31 and coming back from a hammy.
Others will be back soon.
Crisis presents opportunity for others.
Time to have a look at Tom Wilson,Trent Bianco, Sier, McRae, McMahon, Kelly
How long is McInnes out for? Hopefully not long. _________________ Firm in the belief that number 17 flag is only months away... |

Awaiting confirmation by Club but reported on Twitter that there has been more fallout from a huge weekend on the injury front. Collingwood's loss of Jeremy Howe, now salted by a syndesmosis injury to NGA prospect & pick 23 in last year's draft, Reef McInnes. Trey Ruscoe will miss games with a hip injury as well! |

Thanks. Syndesmosis injuries are never simple. Really disappointing news for McInnes if the diagnosis is accurate. Hopefully it’s at the lower end of the scale. |

Time to put Howe on LTI list if he is indeed cooked for 2021, and free up a spot to for another player in midseason draft perhaps? _________________ M I L L A N E 4 2 forever |

Very impressed with the comprehensive injury report provided by Kevin White. The explanation of Howie's injury was exceptional. Also interesting to hear how Billy and Tay are tracking and what specific conditioning will happen now as they look to get back to 100% fitness. What an improvement on the cursory reports provided by Walsh, who especially last year, just seemed as though he was going through the motions to keep the uneducated peasants mollified.
Really disturbing that Levi is taking so long to recover from concussion. It may be that a career end is coming quickly for this warrior
So Sier off for scans.... hmm. |

Geez, not like Sier to breakdown mid season _________________ "You hate a mean man, a grasping man, a man who wants everything and gives nothing. That’s Collingwood. They are a law unto themselves"

From the Herald Sun:
"Buckley revealed that Jeremy Howe, in for more hamstring surgery that could end his season, had felt his muscle pulling most times he had attempted to fly for high marks this year."
And yet our brilliant injury management/physio department/selection committee, continued to select him for consecutive games....go figure... _________________ Free Julian Assange!!
