He might have the 3 votes, though. It was a towering display of leadership by example from him.

And that’s exactly what he did. Incredible bloody man he is, he TOPPED our Brownlow votes with 13, finishing around 10th overall, Despite missing 4(?), in a severely curtailed & ultimately disappointing season.
The bright spots were the incredible performance of our phenomenal skip, who will end up as our greatest ever Captain.
Also the sharp improvement in several guys, most notably Daics, who actually won GotY in true Daicos style, & was among our best, finishing 4th in the Copeland. Not bad considering we should be getting younger bro Nick in 2021, who by most accounts is even better than his brother, which tends to happen with brothers, especially at Cwd. (See Cloke, Rocca, Coventry, Shaw, Richardson, Twomey etc). Other big improvers were Johnny Noble, & Magic Jack Madgen who both took huge leaps in defense.
Probably the biggest delight for Pies fans was the stirring, underdog win over bogey side West Coast in the Elimination Final. It was up there with 2018’s Prelim against the Tigers (and thank God we did! They’d be after a four peat this year!).
Sadly like that game in 2018 we couldn’t follow it up, leaving the ONLY 2 sides I DIDNT want to win in the Granny. DAMN!
But hearty congratulations to our awesome skip, despite huge obstacles he overcame it all to come even closer to being the Greatest Magpie Ever. An accolade many good judges believe he’s already earned. For me, Pendles is still ‘arguably’ the best, but another season or 2 of brilliant leadership will put the matter beyond all doubt, & given names like Collier, Rose, Richards, McHale, Coventry, Buckley & Shaw, to name a few, that’s no mean feat. If we manage to snaffle another flag in that time, the name Scott Pendlebury will be set in stone as the all time God of CFC.
GO Pies!

I reckon he can and will play till he is 35. We have two more years to do the right thing and send him off with a flag. The ball is in your court ‘pies👋🏾👍🏽🤛🏽

Congrats to Pendles who tonight plays his 200th game at the MCG.

This equals the most games with KB at the venue.

He would have passed this last year had we had a normal season.

Pendlebury has now played more games on the MCG than any other player in history.

Now Has:
Played 320 Games.
Premiership Player: 2010.
Norm Smith Medal: 2010.
Most club games.
Most games as Collingwood captain.
Most games played at the MCG.
6× All-Australian Team: 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2019.
3× AFL ANZAC Day Medal: 2010, 2011, 2019 (Tied record).
5× Copeland Trophy: 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016.
Most Brownlow votes from a Collingwood player.
7th for total Brownlow votes.
Has the most total Brownlow votes without a win.

Needs:
8 more Brownlow votes to enter the top 5 for total votes. (Depending on Joel Selwood votes this year). I cant see him winning a Brownlow now at 33, I think Buckley was the last player to win a Brownlow in his 30s, when he was 31 in 2003? It would be great to see him win it, but there's just too many great players at winning clubs right now. It's going to be the one thing missing from his resume.

1 Anzac Day medal to be the outright leader. (Currently tied with Hird on 3 wins). You never know, he could still get another.

1 Copeland Trophy to equal Buckley on 6 wins. (I thought this was out of reach, but Treloar gone, Adams injured, Grundy out of form....)

As far as All-Australians, it's worth noting that he is in every squad of 40 from 2009-2020. With 6 selections in the final AA team, he is 2 selections behind Robert Harvey, Mark Ricciuto, Gary Ablett, Jr, Lance Franklin and Partick Dangerfield who have won 8 total selections. (Buckley, Carey, Roos and Bradley have 7 selections). Its a shame he didnt sneak into an extra team or two.

Above all of this, we need another flag while he's here. Wouldn't that be great!! Hard to see at this stage, but here's hoping!

I can imagine his autobiography: 'Scott Pendlebury: the wasted years'

Sadly, he is on the decline now and won't be winning any individual awards anymore. Will still be amazingly servicable but probably needs to take a more on field coaching role and be more overt at directing others rather than doing the work himself.

I suspect Pendles is closer to the end than most realise.

I think he'll play beyond this year, but retirement could be looming in 2022/23.

Think it'll depend on the next coach and Pendles role in the future. He could possibly play two or even three seasons more barring injury and desire. I guess Covid will also need to be factored in... and that could go either way as the AFL may be forced to remodel the AFL fixture i.e 17 games being the norm instead of 22, or even conferences (which although unlikely, are more likely in a 'permanent' covid world).

Guess we'll see but I'd expect him to play two years more min.

One little achievement we missed for Scott - in 2021, he has gone past Harry Collier into clear second on the list of most wins all-time in a Collingwood jumper:

Gordon Coventry - 220
Scott Pendlebury - 196
Harry Collier - 193
Tony Shaw - 177
Wayne Richardson - 175
Len Thompson - 168
Jock McHale - 166
Syd Coventry - 166
Charlie Dibbs - 164
Albert Collier - 159
Dane Swan - 156
Steele Sidebottom - 155

Thanks P4S.

There's been some ppl talking about 400 games, especially after Burgoyne the other week.

I'm not sure that's going to be in reach.

On 334 games right now, I think 350 is what we should focus on for now. 16 more games, could be achieved in 2022.

As far as Pendles achievements for the rest of 2021, we can look forward to Brownlow night to see if he can find 9 more votes and enter the top 5 for total votes.

9 more Brownlow votes will see Pendles enter the top 5 for total votes. (Depending on Joel Selwood who is 6 votes behind Pendles).

4 more votes will see him pass Chris Judd (who is 6th with 210 votes).

9 more votes will see him pass Robert Harvey (who is 5th with 215 votes).

Scott Pendlebury (207), Leigh Matthews (202) and Joel Selwood (201) have the most votes without a medal win.

How many can he get tonight? And how many will Selwood get?

Goes to show how silly it is when brian Wilson, Shane woeweoeful and Barry Round have won it. Mathews should have won 4 and Pendles 2. Duckwood maybe one,.
