D. Barrett:
"IF ...
Brodie Grundy is able to lay hands on the Sherrin on 63 occasions in a game of footy ...
THEN ...
the system – not merely Grundy himself - is broken, given the negative centre clearance result against the Lions in round three and the negligible positives at stoppages and overall clearances." |

More to the point. Why has it taken this long for someone in the media to mention it. This has been said on here for over 12 months. _________________ no second chances |

Pie-supporting journo Gleeson:
Collingwood at a crossroads, Grundy spooked...
https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/four-points-collingwood-at-a-crossroads-grundy-spooked-dog-ruck-s-new-role-20210411-p57i6n.html
"Brodie Grundy is the most vexing player at Collingwood. Well, one of the most vexing given they have Jordy De Goey and Mason Cox.
Grundy looked spooked by Shane Mumford, with memories of the prelim final of 2019 haunting him.
Opposition teams are presently unconcerned at Grundy’s hitout numbers - they are routinely high - because they only worry if those hitouts translate to high clearances and for Collingwood they do not.
Grundy has little aerial presence around the ground for a man of his size. Collingwood needs its big men to play like big men, and Grundy presently is not.
...
If there is a counterpoint to Grundy it is Western Bulldogs ruckman Tim English. A year ago Grundy rag-dolled English... In the space of 12 months English has overtaken him." |

186 hitouts to 29. If Grundy was hitting it to Bontempelli instead of Adams, the story would be a different one.
Grundy still ragdolls English. It's just that Grundy doesn't play for a competent team anymore. |
Do u think Grundy can be moved forward and kick 3? _________________ Buon Giorno |

If we let him spend half of each game there, got rid of Cox and recruited a KPF or two, yes - Footscray has English and Martin sharing the rucking, so English spends a lot of time up forward.
On a much more important question, if Grundy was rucking to the Footscray midfield, do you think it'd really matter if he could go forward and kick 3? No, of course it wouldn't - they'd win every game by about 12 goals, because the ball would rarely, if ever, be outside their forward half.
I don't know why people waste time on alleged problems with Grundy. He looks like a spud because the team he plays in has about 10 (on a good day) AFL-standard players in it. There are holes all over the field that could be the focus of consideration or discussion. Why so much space wasted talking about our best player? |

Yes, that blonde recruit the Dogs have, Treloar I think his name is, doesn't look too bad. He gives them a bit of speed out of the midfield and was probably in the votes again against Brisbane. We could do with a player like that, but we couldn't afford him. |

There’s obviously a very good reason that Collingwood never plays Grundy up forward... |

Well, I agree we can't afford him. He's the 6th-best mid at the Bulldogs. I wonder whether they pay, eg, Liberatore, Dunkley, MacRae, Bontempelli $900,000 a year? |
