Thought I'd start this thread so anyone who wants to add something, go for it.

A simple recipie for a refreshing post workout drink. All the sports drinks that supposedly replace electrolytes are full of sugar. All you need is cold water, juice of half a lemon and 1/2 a teaspoon of sea salt.

What makes it even better is if you use soda water from a soda stream.

Was told by my doctors many years ago to limit sports drinks, better off drinking plain water after exercise. But I find you can only drink so much water, so I make my own up from the powder (Powerade or Gatorade) if doing strenuous exercise just halve the amount of powder.

And regular exercise.
Prior to Xmas I was walking or on the exercise bike at least every 2nd day.
Haven't done anything since Xmas eve and now the body is a bit stiff and sore particularly in the morning. Back on the bike tomorrow, walk this arvo if the weather clears.

Even the powdered ones are full of sugar. 1 scoop of Staminade (16.25g) contains 14.3g of sugar.

I walk 5km most mornings and follow that with a kettle bell and dumbbell routine

Don’t drink sports drinks unless you’re doing marathons or riding 100’s of km’s per day. Best not to have any at all.

Sounds intense. Anywho, I've exercised a bit in my life and the best tip I heard was listen to your body. On days that you're feeling up & about go hard. On days when you're flat take it easy. As opposed to sticking to a prescribed workload.

I'm very happy to drink it, but not swim in it.

I like the flavoured water Gatorade’s these days. I used to drink Gatorade like your supposed to drink water back when I was around 110, it was actually a Collingwood footballer who told how bad that was.

Cricket starts up again this week, I haven’t done anything in the 3 weeks since last game as I was sick for a week and now it’s too damn wet! It’s going to kill me Thursday night and Saturday is going to be warm. Bit worried as my Achilles has been feeling sore just walking around the house.

Told the footy coach I’m joining in preseason training when they return after Australia Day. My fitness was fantastic a couple of years back when I did most of a pre season but been downhill since especially with no footy last year.

Biggest problem with exercise is just getting motivated and then getting into a routine. That’s why I like cricket and umpiring footy as it at least guarantees 2-3 days a week when I’m running around.
