This is a thread about Podcasts. What do you listen to if you do.

I listen to Radio National quite a bit but haven’t in quite a while

My oldest is in to true crime some of which I’ve listened to via “This American Life” She’s now listening to Harry O’Brien’s sister’s story & what she & the family have been through via an abusive father / step-father. It goes a long way to help understand in part the influences on Heretier.

What do you listen to?

Nah, leave it alone to live or die on it's own, no need to merge it.

I don't do podcasts and I really don't understand them. I much prefer to read info than have someone speaking it to me, if I want to listen to the radio I stream it.

I've been listening to "Red Scare" lately, which is either a left-wing or alt-right (?) comedy podcast hosted by two laconic Russian-American women basically taking the piss out of everyone and everything. It's definitely not for everyone and honestly I'm not even sure I like it half the time, but give it a listen and see what you think.

They also did a (more serious) interview with Steve Bannon a few weeks ago, which was genuinely fascinating:

Wouldn't even know how to listen to a podcast, or where to go to find one.

Even if I did I doubt I would - agree with Stui, I prefer to see the words on paper or watch someone talking. Same reason I wouldn't listen to an audible book, I'll read it but won't listen to it. I guarantee I'd be daydreaming about something completely irrelevant within 5 minutes.

The latest one I've been getting into is "TrueAnon", hosted by Brace Belden and Liz Franczak, which (somewhat humorously) digs into the mysteries surrounding Jeffrey Epstein's death, and broader political / conspiracy theory stuff. You can listen to the first episode here: https://soundcloud.com/trueanonpod/the-ep-files

Been sone real interesting real life crime ones on Spotify.

I’ve enjoyed listening to some from the wrestling world, Raven, Chris Jericho and a few others. Certainly good listening.

Listened to Background Briefing yesterday morning about a terrible Federal court Judge which raised the important question of how to deal with Judges who are so bad they are dangerous. Indeed what can be done about unfair decisions?

https://www.abc.net.au/radionational/programs/backgroundbriefing/this-judge%E2%80%99s-unfair-decisions-upended-peoples-lives/12851486

I found this sad, riveting and incredibly gob smacking

Listened to three episodes of this on my 10,000 steps today: riveting and well done. A focus on actual corruption of voting in the US in 2018: one county in North Carolina. It’s a window into how conservatives can choose to believe that Biden stole the election by focussing on Blane NC the only case of proven electoral fraud. This was perpetrated by Republicans and the only case proven in the last 80 years.

Wow, gobsmacking, non preachy, illuminating and current

I think that might be the link to episode 3 so if ur interested (I highly recommend it) go back to episode 1.

I must have forgotten to reply to this at the time, but I also found this quite shocking. A real eye-opener into some of the failings of the justice system, that’s for sure.

You've never heard about very large failings of the justice system from the past, in terms of organised corruption, because nothing has been published and it was swept under the carpet. There were hints in the media from time to time but that's as far as it went.

This same judge's dad was involved in one of the particularly high-profile corruption stories of the 1980s, if I recall correctly. But yes, I also suspect that that's just the tip of the iceberg.

'How I quit alcohol'

Found these very interesting.
Hearing people's stories about their experiences with alcohol and their journey to sobriety was highly motivational in my early days of giving it away.
