“That ain’t no Hank Williams song!”
Yes, very sad news. I have often wondered what it must be like to start your own band, with your own name, make great music and number one hits and then live the rest of your life associated in the public mind with a genius who played and sang with you when he was a kid. It must have been a hard road.
Here’s the other number 1 hit, with Spencer playing that signature, tight, cutting, overdriven rhythm guitar (Winwood, who - of course - could do absolutely anything with a musical instrument, is playing the lead elements):

And here’s Spencer with a speaking role, live on German TV:

Thanks for posting the link to the remastered version of “Keep on running” - the sound quality on that is so much better than the version on the “Greatest Hits” vinyl.
The songs, at least, are immortal. |

Gimme Some Loving & I'm a Man are still two of the best songs ever made.

Dennis Cometti was asked by a caller to include the Spencer Davis group in his commentary. Dennis, what , they are giving me requests now. Early on in the game Leon Davis swooped on a loose ball and ran into an open goal after sa bounce or 2 and Dennis came out out with "Leon Davis, Keep on running" _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |

Post subject: Vale Sean Connery, the definitive James Bond | |
|
"Sir Sean Connery has died at the age of 90. He was the first actor to play James Bond on the big screen in Dr. No in 1962, From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice and Diamonds Are Forever followed."
https://twitter.com/007/status/1322524367914414082
"In a 1983 interview, Connery summed up the ideal Bond film as having "marvellous locations, interesting ambience, good stories, interesting characters - like a detective story with espionage and exotic settings and nice birds."
Connery was a very different type from Fleming's Bond character with his impeccable social background, preferring beer to Bond's vodka martini cocktails that were "shaken not stirred".
But Connery's influence helped shape the character in the books as well as the films. He never attempted to disguise his Scottish accent, leading Fleming to give Bond Scottish heritage in the books that were released after Connery's debut."
