Quote:
The FA Cup has been provisionally scheduled to return with the quarter-finals on June 27-28 and final set to be held on August 1.

The Premier League will resume on June 17, with all 92 matches being televised.

The FA Cup is also set to be completed, with the quarter-finals planned for the final weekend of June, the semi-finals across the weekend of July 18-19 and the final on Saturday August 1.

No venues or kick-off times for the matches have been confirmed at this stage. The semi-finals and final are normally held at Wembley Stadium.

FA chief executive Mark Bullingham said: "We are pleased to agree the provisional restart date for the 2019/20 Emirates FA Cup.

"The competition has been an integral part of the English football calendar for nearly 150 years, and we'd like to thank the Premier League Executive and Clubs for their support in scheduling the remaining matches during this unprecedented time.

"This has been a difficult period for many people and while this is a positive step, the restart date is dependent on all safety measures being met. The health and wellbeing of players, staff and supporters remains our priority."

Brendan Rodgers: Leicester City manager says he had coronavirus

Quote:
Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers says he "had no strength" after contracting the coronavirus in March.

Rodgers is the second Premier League manager to confirm he has had Covid-19, with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta also testing positive in March. .

The 47-year-old says he suffered with "breathlessness" before fully recovering from the virus.

"I could hardly walk and it reminded me of walking up Mount Kilimanjaro," he told BBC Radio Leicester.

"We had a week off when we were supposed to play Watford [14 March] and then the week after that, I started to struggle.

"For three weeks I had no smell or taste. I had no strength, and a week after, my wife was the same. We were tested and both of us were detected with the virus."

Rodgers climbed Kilimanjaro in aid of charity in 2011, weeks after winning the Championship play-off final with Swansea and guiding the club to the Premier League for the first time.

He was part of a 17-strong team representing the Football League.

"It reminded me of when I climbed Kilimanjaro. The higher you went the more you suffered with acclimatisation and the harder it was to breathe," he added.

"I remember trying to run for the first time [after becoming ill] and it was hard to go 10 yards. I had no real appetite and it was a weird sensation of eating food without ever tasting and smelling what it was.

"It has made me really appreciate being fit and healthy."

Crazy Arsenal lost to Brighton after injuries/red disaster v City.

3 potential banana skins v Southampton, Sheff Utd and Norwich coming up.

They're all going to think they have a chance. Ings seems to have started where he left off.

Ugghh... That's the form of displaying odds I'm least familiar with. (Even the fractional form I convert to decimal.)

Are you saying it may be worth having a flutter on Arsenal losses?

....................

Re. their match predictions, FiveThirtyEight say this: "This league is currently playing matches in empty stadiums. Home-field advantage has been reduced by 60 percent to reflect this change."

Interesting... I wonder how they decided on this number.

Their Arsenal predictions are currently:
Southampton 33%, Draw 26%, Arsenal 42%;
Arsenal 59%, Draw 23%, Norwich 18%;
Arsenal 35%; Draw 2%, Leicester 26%.

Interestingly, they have Man. City almost twice as likely to win as Liverpool in their H2H clash on 2 July.

Liverpool move within two points of title

https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/51884264

sportsbet was offering only $41 on Man City for the title a few days ago. Shocked
That seemed very stingy to me! Now they should be offering $500!

After Liverpool's 4-0 win over Crystal Palace and Man. City's 1-2 Loss to Chelsea...

Liverpool end 30-year PL drought

"After a dominant campaign that was interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic, Liverpool became England’s earliest-ever champion — and the latest.

No team since the inception of the country’s league system in 1888 has clinched the title with seven games remaining. And no team has been crowned Premier League champion in June.
...

The last time Liverpool won the league, it was still called the First Division and the club held the English record for most titles with 18. But the inception of the Premier League in 1992 transformed the landscape of the English game. Liverpool faded as a force, to be eclipsed by Manchester United. Sweeping to 13 Premier League titles, United manager Alex Ferguson succeeded in his mission of knocking Liverpool “off their perch” by helping the Mancunians become 20-time English champions and one of the wealthiest sports teams in the world. Liverpool was even in a fight for financial survival in 2010 when the American ownership of Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jr. plunged the club into heavy debt. The club was rescued — via High Court action — by new American investors from the Fenway Sports Group led by John Henry, who added Liverpool to an investment portfolio that included the MLB’s Boston Red Sox."
