Unnamed Fremantle player is being tested for the virus. Could have serious implications if he tests positive.

Very serious implications. If his test is positive, and he played in the Marsh game against West Coast - it could mean two weeks isolation for both teams??

Some Fremantle supporters suggest it could be James Aish.

He was late withdrawal on Saturday.

"The Dockers released a statement on Monday night and said the player's friend had underwent a 14-day isolation period after returning from China. The friend had reported no flu-like symptoms.

"The player reported to club medical staff today that he was suffering flu-like symptoms and, as a precautionary measure and despite the fact that the friend had reported no flu-like symptoms, the player was immediately sent for testing and isolated," the Dockers said in a statement."

Maybe not infected then, unless his friend is a 10-year-old super-carrier.

Docker Switkowski tests negative for coronavirus

“The facts are that the player presented with flu-like symptoms after being in contact with a friend who had visited China, even though that person had self-isolated for 14 days following his return to the country and hadn’t displayed any symptoms of the virus.

“It was another two weeks after the isolation period that the friend visited the player late last month.

“We felt it was important to be proactive and diligent to ensure the safety of our players, staff and broader community.”

"Some Fremantle players will avoid seeing their partners over the next few weeks in a bid to protect themselves and the team from the coronavirus.

The Dockers have gone into isolation mode ahead of the start of the AFL season and are leaving no stone unturned in protecting their players.

Players have been advised to self-isolate and also been warned about the risks of seeing partners who don’t have the option to work from home.

...

The Dockers insist they haven’t banned players from seeing partners who don’t have the option to work from home.

“There has categorically been no directive from the club that players ask their partners to either work from home or move out,” a spokesperson said."

North Melbourne players Nick Larkey and Cameron Zurhaar.

Possibly some Essendon players attended.

[Glad these idiots are not Pies players.]

Fremantle captain Nat Fyfe will be investigated by police after stopping for a surf in Margaret River.

Police Commissioner Chris Dawson said police would investigate.

"Surfing is not an essential activity, unless you're a professional surfer," he said.

"So on the face of it, it looks like there are some questions to be answered. Police will investigate."

- from The Age's blog at 5.03 pm today.

From The Age's blog this morning:

... after being investigated by WA police, it was found that Fyfe was indeed an essential traveller as he had been helping out his family’s transport business.

"It has been confirmed that Mr Fyfe entered the region in order to provide transport services and was waiting for a truck to be loaded when he went surfing," WA Police said in a statement.
