Being stuck at home is one thing. Not having any weed at the same time is just crazy talk.

See above. Wink

Deep questions:

Can you shoot the coronavirus?
How many layers of toilet paper does it take to stop a bullet?
Can you roll a joint with toilet paper?
Can you use a gun as a bong?

(Looks like there are answers to the second deep question on the internet! Wink )

i was actually wondering if, like the canals of Venice cleaning up (I was pretty shocked at the colour of the water there last year!!), that maybe empty streets would help, and i found this shocking site!! so that would be a big no. set it to the last 72 hours, even more scary

Is Marijuana an ‘Essential’ Like Milk or Bread? Some States Say Yes

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/24/us/coronavirus-weed-marijuana.html

"As stay-home orders to fight the coronavirus outbreak force “nonessential” businesses to close, some states are allowing pot stores and medical dispensaries to remain open, with some restrictions."

Smoking weed and coronavirus: Even occasional use raises risk of Covid-19 complications

https://edition.cnn.com/2020/04/10/health/smoking-weed-coronavirus-wellness/index.html

'"What happens to your airways when you smoke cannabis is that it causes some degree of inflammation, very similar to bronchitis, very similar to the type of inflammation that cigarette smoking can cause," said pulmonologist Dr. Albert Rizzo, chief medical officer for the American Lung Association. "Now you have some airway inflammation and you get an infection on top of it. So, yes, your chance of getting more complications is there."
...

"Chronic" marijuana smoking, defined as daily use, damages the lungs over a period of time. The end result "looks a lot like chronic bronchitis, which is of course one of the terms we use for chronic obstructive lung disease, or COPD," Glass said.
...

"Marijuana burns at a much, much lower temperature than a commercially made cigarette," said Glass. "Because of that, the person is inhaling a certain amount of unburnt plant material."

That irritates the lungs in the same manner as ragweed, birch and oak pollen does for those allergic to them, he said.
...

"It's common sense that anything you inhale that has been combusted and contains particles or chemicals can inflame your airways," he said. "So you're already making your body fight off foreign particles before it even has to fight off the infection."'

Not quite on topic but close enough.

Mum started taking cannabis oil a couple of weeks ago thanks to her open minded patient care focused haematologist!

Her pain is manageable, she is sleeping better ( even with a fairly stress full and emotional time lately) less anxious and even eating a little better.

I don’t understand why this is so very hard to legally source when opiates have far greater negative side effects and yet are so much easier to legally get - makes no sense to me Confused

Couldn’t agree more. great news, she is certainly a trouper.

Dad going into nursing home in the nick of time I think, I just went through some of the boxes we brought home, blood pressure, anxiety, fluid, and a couple of other filled scripts all unused. I’ll hand them to the nurse tomorrow, he’s arriving at the home via care flight.

Almost 6 years ago the question was posed.

The headline of The West Australian June 2022

Weed All About It !

Dr Brian Walker & Sophia Moermond of the Legalise Cannabis WA Party have revealed key details about their bill to legalise pot use. Sandgropers would be allowed to posses up to 50 grams of weed and grow up to four plants per household.

The bill will be introduced to parliament next year.

Compare the map on the original post link.... to this one Shocked https://disa.com/map-of-marijuana-legality-by-state.

I like the state laws for Nevada.

Possession of one ounce or less of marijuana or 3.5 grams or less of concentrated marijuana is legal for adults 21 and older.

Retail marijuana stores are operational.

Cultivation of up to six marijuana plants is legal for adults 21 and older if they reside 25 miles or more away from an operating retail marijuana store.

How behind are we on this?!?

UNSW - Drug an alcohol research centre study.

The THC content of cannabis in Australia: evidence and implications.

Has the average THC content of cannabis plants increased?
The THC content of Australian cannabis products has not been systematically tested by any Australian police force over the period in which average THC content has been claimed to have increased, as there is no legislative reason for doing so. There is therefore no Australian data to support the claim that there has been a 10 to 30-fold increase in average THC content of cannabis in Australia.

More recent data have failed to show a 10-30 fold increase in the THC content of seizures between 1984 and 1998. At most this series shows a small increase in THC content from 3.3% in 1980 to 4.4% in 1998.

Potency limits for adult-use sales. Flower could not exceed 30% THC. Solid concentrates could not exceed 60%. Oils — apart from cartridges for vape pens — would not be allowed.
A single package could not exceed 50 milligrams of THC, other than non-consumable products, such as topical salves, and medical cannabis.
These restrictions would not apply to medical cannabis or home cultivation.
Servings are limited to five milligrams of THC. The number of servings must be listed.

It's been 8 years since the OP.

Here in WA I know several people who are now prescribed medicinal cannabis. Some with THC, some without. The Law in WA is...

Medicinal cannabis at a glance

Most medicinal cannabis products are Schedule 8 (SCool medicines, also known as controlled drugs.
Products containing cannabidiol only are Schedule 4 (S4) medicines, also known as prescription only medicines.
All medical practitioners in Western Australia are eligible to prescribe medicinal cannabis products. For S8 products, approval from the Department of Health is required, for each patient.

https://www.health.wa.gov.au/articles/a_e/cannabis-based-products#:~:text=In%20Western%20Australia%20(WA)%2C,Recreational%20cannabis%20remains%20illegal.

Recreational use is legal in almost half of the USA now...

More than half of Americans live in places where recreational marijuana is legal.

In 2012, Colorado and Washington became the first states to legalize recreational marijuana use through ballot initiatives. Other states have legalized it more recently, including New York in 2021.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/legal-weed-states-map/

The potency of weed has increased dramatically since I first had a smoke (early 80's) and the stuff in my tin at home is right up there.

I don't smoke much these days, maybe 4-6 times a month. It should be legalized totally, delaying the inevitable is crazy, the government income (rather than black market profiting) would be in the 100's of millions, if not billions.
