If you want to be excited about one thing in life, get excited about this kid. Darcy Moore. Son to Peter Moore, Darcy was drafted to Collingwood under the father son rule and Collingwood went crazy. Lauded as a top 3 pick, Darc excelled at VFL level and was so close to a debut early in the season before a hamstring injury slowed him down.
It then wasn't until round 14 when he debuted alongside fellow draftee Brayden Maynard under the Friday night lights v the mighty Hawks. Thrown right into the deep end, Darc did everything right. Didn't get a lot of the ball but it was what he did without which excited me.
His hunt and chase + enthusiasm for every contest struck out to me the most and it was just great to see for a bloke his age & his size. It wasn't until round 17 v the Bulldogs where he kicked his first AFL goal. He kicked 5 that day in a breakout performance. For the remainder of the season he was able to hold his spot in the side, alongside Reid, Cloke and then White later in the year. Playing in the forward/ruckman role, his ruck work was so impressive.
All in all it was a good start to what is going to be a very fruitful career for Darcy at Collingwood and an exciting journey for all Collingwood fans.
