Player Profile: by Johnson#26

After spending two years at Brisbane, O’Bree became a Collingwood player in 2000 and impressed as a running midfielder. He began the season well before tapering off towards the finish. His best game came against Carlton in round three, when he won three Brownlow votes for his efforts.
2001 was O’Bree’s best season, where he became a recognised player. He was a dominant player almost all season until slowing down late in the season.
In 2002, O’Bree’s season was marred by hamstring injuries and he never really got going. Despite trying hard in the Grand Final, he was still below his best.
In 2003, O’Bree was used as a crumbing forward to great effect, as he scored 19 goals, including a four goal haul against the Bulldogs. O’Bree’s AFL career wavered dangerously in 2004, as he was over taken for midfield positions by Lockyer and McGough.
Despite a good showing against Port in round 6, where he collected 38 possessions and laid 8 tackles, O’Bree was still under performing. In round 10, O’Bree injured a knee and missed the next three weeks.
