Recruited in the 2003 pre-season draft, Mullins began his AFL career
at
Williamstown, where he played in a premiership side.
He was not expected to play and senior games in 2003 but by the
2004 season came around, Mullins was ready for senior action. In
round four against Fremantle, Mullins showed poise and class as
the Pies lost heavily.
But in a surprise move by Mick Malthouse, Mullins was dropped for
the ANZAC Day blockbuster. He soon returned in round eight, but
his confidence seemed to have deserted him.
