From Glenelg, King was drafted at pick number 58 in the 2002 National
Draft. A former baseballer, King spent 2003 in the Williamstown
seniors, where he was a member of the premiership side, as well
as being touted by Mick Malthouse as possible Grand Final chance.
However, the dream did not become a reality for King, who watched
from the sidelines as Collingwood lost by 50 points. 2004 was meant
to be the break through year for King, who made his debut in round
four against Fremantle. King showed toughness and skill in
his short period in the seniors, scoring a goal against Port Adelaide
in round six. King was then demoted to the VFL, where he appeared
to lose his way.
