We simply must win our first three games of 2003....I know I'm getting ahead of myself....(one week at a time and all that)
But those games are all winnable and will set up a great platform for 2003
All three sides failed to make the eight and if we are serious about winning this flag we must beat sides like Richmond, carlton and geelong....
After that is a tough game and having three good wins and confidence heading up north....we could really stamp ourselves for 2003.....
Last year we were 1-2 after 3 rounds....this CANNOT happen..... _________________ THE PIES GO MARCHING ON

LOL Terry - I thought that was going to be "I must, I must, I must increase my bust"
LMAO
Anyway I wholeheartedly agree - these matches mean THE WORLD to us. These can mean a whole lot by the time the season ends. If we want top four, we have to win these games and win them well.
A win in these rounds, with such a close competition, could mean - making the finals, home finals, weeks rest - anything come September.

Dead right Jen.
The comp this year is gonna be more even than ever b4, so we just have to take hold of our opportunities. This means winning games against lower placed sides, or sides who failed to make the 8 last year. I hope the trend doesnt continue where the Pies seem to do so well against good sides yet struggle in games were expected to win. Rounds 1, 2 and 3 will give us a gr8 insight into what to exepct during 2003. Having said that, the year is very long and anything can happen.

I think it doesn't matter how we do in the first few matches, as long as we can pull it on track by round five. remember last year, and we had a terrible patch at the end, and we still made 4th. MM likes to start slowly and perform at peak in the finals, not the first three games.
having said that, the boys are a lot stronger and fitter this year (IMO) and I reckon they may just hit the gorund running.
it'd be lovely to be 5 - 0 after anzac day!

Increase my bust - is that the joke with toilet paper in the punch line? very funny one if it is..
Yes whilst undermanned these 3 games will be vital to where we finish end of year. A good start is paramount! _________________ And on the 8th day, he created Collingwood. |

As long as we finish in a favourable position in the top 4, it doesn't really matter where or when we win our games.
Let's keep our eye on the bigger picture and not get too outcome focused.
Having said that, smashing Richmond and Carlton does bring with it a sense that all's well with the world. |

If we're expected to be taken seriously as a force to be reckoned with in the competition, then we have to be able to beat these lower sides. In the past we have struggled against the lower teams - that needs to be turned around this year, and what better way to start than by beating our old foes Richmond and Carlton then capping it off by beating a team we haven't defeated in the season proper since 1998?!!! Then of course the Magpie Army will be set for a real blockbuster at the Gabba on the 17th of April, when we try and get some revenge! _________________ "I'm sure people see me as a screaming redhead with a big pair of boobs, but I like to think I've got things to say." If we want to be in the top 4 though, these are the sides we have to beat. The competition is far to even to only win the matches that matter 'ego wise'.

There's only 1 thing we should be worrying about this week, and its beating richmond. but u do have a point when you say that we should beat teams like them this year if we're serious. When ya say things about undefeated, well everyone wants it too happen but as everyone says, "take it a week at a time" and anything can happen. |

I agree with Joffa - win them all
But if we have to lose - please don't it be against Bitchmond , Filth or the bloody Crows .

I would rather lose to any of those sides listed above if it means beating Essendon!
I hope that Joffa's sentiments ring true!! |
