Western Bulldog Patrick Lipinski requests trade, set for Pies move
By Peter Ryan and Jon Pierik

https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/western-bulldog-patrick-lipinski-requests-trade-to-pies-20210928-p58vg1.html

Western Bulldogs midfielder Patrick Lipinski has informed the club he is seeking a trade, with the 23-year-old expected to join Collingwood in the upcoming trade period.

The talented Lipinski officially informed the club of his decision on Monday after the Bulldogs lost the grand final to Melbourne.

He has played 56 games in his five seasons with the club and played 12 games this season but found it impossible to cement a spot in the team’s strong midfield.

The Bulldogs offered Lipinski a deal to stay with the club and are expected to drive a hard bargain with the Magpies despite the fact Lipinski – who was pick 28 in the 2016 national draft – will get more opportunities at Collingwood.

Lipinski fits the Magpies’ profile of players who can play midfield/forward and is set to join the club along with Geelong’s key Nathan Kreuger. Collingwood will also need to retain points to claim Nick Daicos as the father-son prospect is likely to attract a bid within the first four selections.

Collingwood have picks 36, 39, 41 and 45 but are confident they won’t go into deficit next season.

I don’t see how we can possibly afford him or anyone else from a trade perspective. We MUST be looking to offload a senior player or two for draft picks. Cox ain’t gonna get us enough!

How do the dogs expect to drive a hard bargain ?
He’s contracted during the trade period but if they don’t do a deal, then we walk him through to the PSD when he’s not contracted.
Simply work something out with either our second or third round future picks and then leave it to them to convert that newly acquired future pick into 2021 points for the Sam Darcy F / S selection.
I think he will be a good pick up. Knowing he will get his chances, should inspire him to put in a big pre season and grab his opportunity with both hands. He can play anywhere between the arcs, so he’s versatile too.

This entirely...

In fact, walk him through to the pre-season draft and ask the Dogs to chuck $150K of the Treloar money back our way Laughing Laughing Laughing

Will be a good pickup but given we gave them Treloar for almost nothing, they should make this easy.

But he must really want out given he was a Bulldogs fan growing up.

Footscray is, according to that article, going to "drive a hard bargain". Perhaps they intend to make us take Treloar back as part of the deal.

1 option - walk him to PSD - don't even entertain a trade.

Collingwood should just march him straight to the PSD without even attempting to negotiate a trade with the WB.

Screwing us over after Eddie helped them with acquiring sponsors when they were down and out was something that Collingwood should NEVER forget.

Jon Ralph
@RalphyHeraldSun
Dogs offered three years for Lipinski so in no mood to hand him over for a late pick.

👀 | Collingwood and the Bulldogs locked horns over Adam Treloar and his contract last year. Now another trade war is looming over Pat Lipinski.

Be a short war when we walk him to the PSD

Normally that doesn't happen if clubs are in talks with players who have already nominated their club of choice.
Jack Martin was the latest one I can recall.
