Is it racist, if a black person calls another black person a coconut? Is being called a coconut worse than being called a black b@st@rd? If an Italian calls someone a dago, is that racist? What about calling someone a skip?
Surely the Arab terrorists are racist in their attacks on Americans! Or do you have to be white to be racist. Anyone asked what the Japanese think of the Chinese? What a Korean thinks of the Japanese? Can you imagine what your prospective Indian parents in law would think of you if you are not Indian? Anyone know a Greek married to an Italian?
Getting back to the footy, Collingwood crowds are a lot better now than they were, even 6 years ago. Until recently, I did not even know that coconut had that distasteful meaning. But I certainly have heard Murphy get called some other things.
I agree you should be choosey about the people you sit or stand with. But sometimes you do not get much choice. But in general we should try and keep the people we know under control and let them know in some way that their comment is out of line. Even by grimacing. I certainly remember grimacing a bit in the Ponsford stand. _________________ Scooby Doo says "I've been to Lexus too." |

The thing that annoyed me most was that the Pies have worked very hard at getting rid of this sort of behaviour. |

Racism is easily identified.
It is anything that causes someone to be hurt by our own words or deeds.
Live and let live I say.
Do not judge a person on what you see, or think you know, judge them on their actions.
