Well im sure most of you have seen Mike no credibility Sheehans top 50.

Buckley has slipped from 8th to 9th in the AFL. Mike used to say that Buckley never played in finals so we dont know how great a player he is as the champions perform in finals. Well one Norm Smith Medal later and he is still 9th. Come on Mike put the anti Buckley vendetta in the past.

Fat Farm is 17th

Toyd is 5th

Turd is 2nd

Dudd is 50th after one season (Actually Judd is a good player but one season hardly makes top 50 material)

Oh Mike Shane Shane Shane..........that brings me to Crawford. Crawford better than Buckley!!!!!!! Unlikely

Sheehan certainly hates the pies - its probably from all those flies he catches, but his ranking of Buckley at number 9 is for one reason only - to suck Collingwood supporters into his little game. He and the sports editor have their little meeting and ensure that Buckley is ranked relatively lowly (in this case 8 places behind where he should be) in order to elicit outrage from Magpie fans. The sole exercise is to sell more of the rag.
If you read his criteria for selection, how can anyone in their right mind select Anthony Rocca at 16, just one place above Shitn ....err I mean Whitnall. Read it, have a laugh and treat it with the disdain it deserves.[/b]

Buckley's 9th position is warranted. His form last year wasn't as good as it has been in the past. However, Buck's pre season form has been outstanding, so perhaps that placing will change this year.

The criteria is if everyone played at their maximum. I refuse to believe that if Buckley plays at his maximum he isnt better than 9th best ??

If it was based on last year how does Lloyd get so high and fat boy is in top 20??

Mr Sheehan has been trying to justify this list on 3AW.

Classic line... "Well it is my opinion... and it is mine"

uh-huh.

IMO a very good list.

I don't know why people get worked up over Mike. A journo who wants to attract attention is not going to tow the line of the public's views and say want they want to hear.

He goes out on purpose to attract this interest and idiots continually fall for it. IMO Tarrant's position is undeserved and it should be given to Scott Burns; a player who has more influence than Buckley.

But having said that Mike has done a good job.

Yeah fantastic list

Headland isnt rated in top 50 despite having a great season and one of the best young players going around.

Whitnall is in top 20. Based on what ??

Yze can only make the 40's. He has rated Cameron Bruce ahead of Yze ?? I can tell you which player i would choose.

I would like to think that if Hird and Buckley both played at their optimums there wouldnt be seven positions seperating them. When did Hird last reach any great heights?? It boils down to the fact that Sheehan hates Buckley. He rated Crawford highed because Vrawford carried Hawthorn last year. Big whoops Buckley did that for 3 or 4 years at Collingwood yet never got the same cudos. Buckley has only had ONE top 5 finish in Sheehans top 50.

Instead of complaining like a little kid, try doing a top 50 of your own. If it is limited to 3 or 4 mistakes like Mike's is, then you would be doing very well.

I don't agree that Sheehan loves Crawford. I seem to recall that he left him out of the top 50 last year and anyway, Shane is one of the elite players of the competition.

Buckley's form last year was of a top 10 player. Not a top 3 player.

Further to that, here is a top 20 of my own (it's too hard to do a 50).

1. Voss
2. Lloyd
3. Black

8. Tredrea
9. Hird
10. Crawford
11. Cousins
12. Neitz
13. Primus
14. Brown
15. Riewoldt
16. J Johnson
17. King
18. Yze
19. Bell
20. Pavilich

mike sure knows how to get people to buy the paper. leppitsch seems far too high at number 8 for mine although he is a decent player. and yze was at 36 last year, had a brilliant season and slips to 41. strange. mike wrote at some point last year that buckley would never be truly rated in the top tier until he proved himself in finals footy, which i think is a fair call. obviously missed the final V port, played solidly V the crows and of course won a Norm Smith. cant do a lot else to prove himself although 2 finals matches may not be enough to confirm greatness. premiership captain sounds nice though. mike would have little choice but to put him at number 1 next year if it happens in '03.

I want any sane, sober and not high person to tell me that Leppitsch is a better player than Buckley.

and keep a straight face saying it...

Well when i feel our club captain has been treated harshly then i will state my opinion.

I never said Shane Crawford wasn't one of the elite players in the competition. The question is which one would you select first Buckley or Crwaford. I would select Buckley first every time. I thought most people would have thought the same but obviously i was wrong. So please tell us Rohan who you would select first??

I will wait and see the Top 50 that Robert Walls is releasing next week.

Ben Cousins had a very good first year when he entered the AFL??

Most Collingwood people JLC. I think from a neutral perspective there wouldn't be a great deal between Buckley and Crawford.

To me people that complain about very subjective lists lack a firm grasp of football. It is a matter of opinion and it's not a concrete belief that Crawford is better than Buckley.

IMO it's very hard to seperate the top 20 players. Anyone who does and thinks concretley that one player in this top 20 is better than another lacks football knowledge.
