What’s better than stopping Carlscum from making the finals last year? Beating them on Friday and if they fluke getting in, beating them in a final 😝

Some useless information...

The only team Nicks played three or more times against, and hasn't kicked a goal. He's played 2 or less against the other sides; Richmond (2), GWS (2), Saints (2) and Hawks (1), he's yet to kick a major.

Also his lowest stats numbers are against them - 22.7 disposals (avg 28.7), 1 mark (3.8 ), 1.7 tackles (2.8 ).

Josh on the other hand thrives against the old enemy.
In 6 matches, he averages - 22 disposals (avg 19), 6.2 marks (3), tackles are the same (2.8 ) and he kicks a goal every second outing.

For what it's worth...

* Out Mitchell (injured- allow him a full two weeks to get cherry ripe)
* In: Macrae (stellar form in VFL and clearly deserves an opportunity)

* Out: Cox (likely to be wet and somewhat slippery Friday night)
* IN: Frampton (was excellent in the VFL and is best 23- gives us cover for defensive tall and 2nd ruck)

Retain Markov as a sub- will need pace and run after half time...

Looking forward to the Hawks game:

Out : Howe- (managed)
In: Markov

Out: Lipinski (managed)
In: Johnson

Sub: ???

Jumpin Jack Ginnivan, says hello, his VFL form was terrific last week, v Sandy, and I watched most of that match. Rest Bobby, bring in Jack, he does well against the Bluebellies. Idea Smile

We shouldn't forget that it was only a couple of weeks back wasn't it that Mitchell was under an injury cloud and seemingly had to pass a fitness test to play.

Was reported as some form of neck injury if I recall correctly though how accurate that was who knows.

That alone might well be the reason he started as our substitute against Fremantle while also contributing to his output against Port.

Mitchell was targeted for a reason and for mine he's held up his end of the bargain so far in areas we wished to improve in.

If however he's playing through injury currently and it's starting to limit his impact, we may need to reassess our options and rest him completely if deloading during training and on game day isn't working as hoped.

For the record here are some stats on Mitchell this season and his team ranking for each one.

Average Disposals 25.61 #3
Average Effective Disposals 18.61 #2
Average Handballs 15.28 #2
Average Contested Possessions 11.50 #1
Average Clearances 5 #2
Average Centre Clearances 2 #2
Average Stoppage Clearances 3 equal #1
Average Tackles 5.71 #1

Mcrae has injured his thumb, so we can't rest Titch and play Mcrae. It's going to be wet on Friday, so dropping Cox for a smaller player such as Ginnivan or Johnson would make sense if we have Checkers and McStay up forward.

^^ wishful thinking
Not going to happen, IMHO

One change OK
It's difficult for Fly but a good problem to have, as they say

<---I think the one player that is best 23 is Ash Johnson, he'll be back.

Too hard to predict what Fly might do but he wont want to disrupt the team too much

I won't be surprised to see Ginni named and start, with Bobby listed as the sub. They're the two I'd like to see work in tandem.
Ginni might yet prove a finals wildcard. If he lights it up I can't help but think he squeezes Bobby out.
We're sitting 16th for tackles inside 50, something our forwards as a whole need to address.

We'll never know until post season on who has been carrying 'niggles' or is going into the shop post season for a tune-up, but I'd be happy to bring in Markov in to give Maynard a freshen up.
Markov on the MCG, delicous.
Crisp can soon cover the Maynard role. Crispy is our #2 for tackles this season with 84.

Out: Hill, Maynard
In: Markov, Ginnivan

Sub: Hill

I can’t see Ginni replacing Hill.

Hill has something Ginni doesn’t…. Blistering pace.

Hill and Beau are vital to the way we play and the way we set up in the forward line.

If it's wet - play Ginni
If it's dry - play Bobby

So great win against Port...but we really are not the finished product yet....a good thing I guess.

But for anyone who follows some champion data stats Collingwood were beaten badly by Port between the archs, Port owned the ball in that part of the ground. On expected scores Port should have won the match by 5 goals.

The only reason we won was due to our insane level of accuracy on goal.

The former stat about the possession between the archs of 50 is a worry, because this supposedly is now several weeks in a row we have lost that stat.

Early in the year we were #1 in the comp in this stat.

In truth Carlton will be missing a handful players they consider best 23 this week and at least 2 in McKay and Walsh are A grade.

In comparison we're at full strength with only some shuffling around the edges possible. No excuses for us.

Just get it done.
