Absolutely.

I'd actually have him in the side ahead of Blair, Dwyer, Thomas and Ball.

In ranking order, I'd list our mids as:

Swan
Pendles
Beams
Adams
Thomas
Dwyer
Ball
Blair

I don't consider Sidey, Fasolo or Elliott as mids.

I say Blair could go Forward to be a Small Forward. Simmlar to Sidebottom

It's a pretty tough one for mine. I'm not looking too far into these stats as they both played different positions this year but here they are:

Taylor Adams (16 games/7goals)

Kicks 13.1
Handballs 8.2
Disposals 21.3
Marks 4.3

Hit-Outs 0.0
Tackles 3.2
Goals 0.4
Dream Team 82.2

Jarryd Blair (22 games/14 goals)

Kicks 7.1
Handballs 9.2
Disposals 16.3
Marks 2.6

Hit-Outs 0.0
Tackles 5.7
Goals 0.6
Dream Team 74.0

As I said before it's hard to really separate them as Adams played predominately midfield where as Blair played mostly forward this year, but the way I see it is Adams ability to play as a decent forward largely plays on whether he gets into our best 22. We already have a midfield brigade large enough to keep us going for another couple of years, and both Adams and Blair are behind the pecking order in terms of Pendles/Swan/Ball/Beams/Sidey/O'brien/Thomas. So if we weigh up the lets say 75% forward time to the 25% midfield time, who serves us better? I'd say whoever plays as a more dangerous forward.

Yeah, can't count Blair and Dwyer in that list, DTM.

It is inconceivable that Adams wont be one of the first picked every week. Think Dayne Beams and Sidey after their first two years. The jury was still out on both of them with some fans, but the club knew to keep playing them.

The dude is a gun midfielder who will be one of the first picked for years to come.

Agree with you Dave. As they always do, Fox Footy have been playing the season over again once everything finishes up and have been paying attention whenever a GWS game comes on. He displays quite good finishing skills on the shots he has and also has a quick turn of pace. In Blair's defense he is also quick but not so great on his finishing. Maybe that's where we separate them for now until we get a closer look next year.

To be honest I haven't really seen the kid play and I'm really looking forward to it given the hype around him.

I do however sincerely hope he is a starting 22 player week in week out. Otherwise we just traded out a walk up start, premiership player for a fringe player.

That would be a hard pill to swallow.

Once again...... In Hine we trust.

They stack up pretty evenly in the hitouts

This is the new "go up the guts and quit hugging the boundary line."

If we pick up Bontempelli we could conceivably have four players over 191cm in the square at the first bounce - Grundy, Pendles, Karnezis and Bontempelli.

I realise that your tongue was in your cheek but I'm hearing the sentiment so often I'm starting to worry that we will end up with a height addiction like MM's speed addiction in the early-mid 00's. It may be that we should be picking up Lewis Taylor in the draft but we won't because of the potential backlash from fans.

Something I have always loved about our game is that no matter what size or shape you are there is a role for you.

It could also be that in these days of oval-wide zones, the place to be is between the players in the zone and height is relatively irrelevant. This is how we seem to be trying to gain ground these days - putting each other into gaps almost like League players, avoiding one-on-one contests really.

I trust Bucks and Hiney to manage the list, including the average height.

Having said all of that, three years after winning a flag Blair is back to playing for his spot next year and I don't like his chances.

Ball's in strife too.

We go deep as Very Happy

As a mid, I'd have him well ahead of Blair, ahead of Dwyer and battling with Thomas for a spot. Having traded him for Heath Shaw, there's no doubt he'll play the majority of games in 2014, unless he's struggling for form.

there's some bloody tall midfielders across the comp these days. think mundy, fyfe as two examples. i am a little curious as to how all the pieces fit together. we have a lot of midgets and some taller as midfield options. which direction will the game go next?
