Frampton makes a better forward target than Reef so happy to see how he goes a CHF. Bianco as sub is an interesting one. I would have thought that a forward in case Johnson goes missing might have been a bit of insurance but in Fly we trust. Prepare for the scumps to go nuts against us and give their darling side and that stager Weightman the lion share of the frees. This will be a close finish methinks _________________ "Hey Ma get off the dang roof!" |

Recent history at Marvel against the Dogues ~
2018 W
2019 W
2020 W
2022 L 14.15 (99) to 7.9 (51)
https://afltables.com/afl/stats/games/2022/040720220513.html
Last time we got hammered, 29 shots at goal to our 16.
They smahsed us in contested possessions 146 to 106. Bailey Smith (41 disposals), Jack Macrae (37) and Tom Liberatore (30) helped the Dogs win the clearances 43-27. Adam Treloar starred, picking up 36 touches and slotting three goals. Was as if he was trying to prove a point...(hopefully Poulter doesn't do the same)
They owned the ball, 437 disposals to our 323, with 286 uncontested possessions to our 202.
10, yes count them, 10 changes this time around. (thanks for the correction David)
Outs : Begg, C.Brown, T.Brown, Henry, Macrae, Madgen, Maynard, Mihocek, Poulter, Sidebottom.
Ins : Cox, Frampton, Elliott, Hill, Johnson, Markov, Mitchell, Murphy, Naicos & Pendlebury (+ a sub)
4 of those 10 remain, albeit 3 are on the injury list and one on the Sub list. 5 have since deprated. Further attestation to the amount of change Macrae and co have made to our list.
Smash 'em lads! _________________ "The Club's not Jock, Ted and Gerry" (& Eddie)

^ Great work, LH. It’s certainly a formidable improvement and much stronger lineup this time around – though it’s actually ten changes: Nick Daicos did play that game, as did Sidebottom who’s missing this time around, and Pendlebury, Cox and Bianco have all come in. So it’s:
Outs : Begg, C.Brown, T.Brown, Henry, Macrae, Madgen, Maynard, Mihocek, Poulter, Sidebottom
Ins : Frampton, Elliott, Hill, Johnson, Markov, Mitchell, Murphy, Pendlebury, Cox, Bianco |

Let's also not forget that night we had no Cox.
Begg had the ruck duties with Darcy Cameron.
They also had a handy player in Josh Dunkley running through their midfield / forward area who kicked 3 goals. |

Err... No... Sadly... I mean, yeah to what you said, but the ruck stuff is much worse this time round.
They had Jordon Sweet rucking last time. Now they have Tim English, who is prolly the best ruckman in the AFL. (Lotta media think so.) Prolly AA this year though not certain. If there are two AA ruckmen, maybe close to certain. (Maybe Sean Darcy is a chance. And Matthew LLoyd reckons Marshall is an outside chance. St K. play Melb. this round, and Lloyd says "Gawn and Grundy should be fearing Marshall". Everyone on Footy Classified agrees the Gawn and Grundy experiment has failed. Grundy is putrid and just stuffs up Gawn by taking up his ruck time. Meanwhile, Nic Nat will miss the whole season injured. And Port have won 12 in a row with no ruckmen.)
In September 2020...

I would swap Grundy and Treloar for English in a heartbeat.
English is the type of ruckman you would die for. ... |
Dunno about "to die for". But masoncox was right. And the squealing Grundy Apologist was wrong. No sane folks in 2023 would prefer to have Grundy instead of English. Even with another club paying 1/3 of his salary!!
(masoncox also reckons English will win the Brownlow one year. Dunno bout that either. Needs Brownlow form... And then needs umpire help in voting for a ruckman.) |

-> You might just be right Damo
IF ...
Jordy De Goey was on track for an inaugural All-Australian jacket before a three-week stint on the sidelines for his hit on Eagle Elijah Hewett ...
THEN ...
I'm still backing him in for the accolade. Might just be ready to explode into the stratosphere with his performances after his little break.
-> And the Dogs
IF ...
Jamarra Ugle-Hagan has been emerging beautifully this season ...
THEN ...
he's still got some way to go to assume No.1 key forward status. Aaron Naughton may have been quiet for six weeks but he's still the main man, and will be key to a Dogs' win against the Magpies under Friday night lights.

Their win against Adelaide was also a strong performance, but yes – apart from the Crows and Brisbane, their other seven wins have been against teams ranging from 10th to 18th. All up, they’re 2–4 against top 8 teams and 7–2 against everyone else. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

While I dislike Luke Bevridge, (his media conferences indicate a very sour and sullen passive /not so passive anger) , and think his abilities as a coach may have been overblown a little (the 2016 GF victory was a fantastic achievement, but that list had been established beforehand, just like CScott in 2011), I do think that on occasions he is capable of inspirational coaching which we have to be aware of. If we do get a lead on them, we will need to ensure that we don't go into conservation of energy mode too deeply, or emerge from it too slowly, as they will remain a dangerous threat throughout the game. _________________ Free Julian Assange!!
